We’re a farm-to-table restaurant that’s redefining what fine dining means. We work with local vendors and farmers to find the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. We understand the challenges of finding high-quality options that unique, vegan or allergy-friendly, especially since the owner has Celiac Disease herself, among other dietary restrictions. Our kitchen creates fresh food from scratch every day and can customize to your needs, so we’ve got you covered. Plus, we're the only restaurant in McHenry County to have received Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence, and our expert staff can help you choose the perfect pairing.

For us, fine dining is more than the very best in food, service and atmosphere. It’s a conversation and a connection to others. We believe everyone deserves good food so we’ve started a movement to do just that.

    1776 has a strict reservation policy, yet it is quite lax in honoring reservations. We arrived on -time for our reservation but waited almost thirty minutes for our table. While the food was excellent, portions are small and service is slow.

    Everything from checking in to dessert far exceeded our expectations. The experience was memorable as was the delicious food. Our servers were very friendly and attentive throughout the evening. I cannot recommend this beautiful restaurant enough to those that are looking for quality dishes, amazing staff and peaceful dining setting. They also made our visit special as it was our sons birthday.

    We had such a lovely dinner. Everything was outstanding. The service, food and atmosphere. So welcoming. Went on Wednesday night when bottles of wine are 50% off what a value. Large selection of quality wines. We had the the special…bone in New York strip absolutely delicious. Made to Perfection and the perfect temperatures we requested. Server recommended a lovely wine and that complemented the steaks. Plan to return many times.

    Ever since they remodeled, the noise level has dropped considerably. The service was great, with the only exception being that it took 45 minutes for our meal to be ready. However, everything was tasty and unique! The portions are small, but that just means that I don't make the mistake of overeating. Look forward to going back!

    I have Celiac Disease so getting the opportunity to go to a restaurant like 1776 is amazing, but beyond that, it is an outstanding restaurant in every way without even considering that all their fantasicly fabulous dishes are 100% gluten free, and prepared in a 100% gluten free kitchen and restaurant. It would no doubt be a special dinner every time for anyone at 1776, but for someone with Celiac's Disease, it is culinary heaven on earth. On top of all that, the people are wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable, the presentation is superb, and the service is top notch. It has instantly become my new favorite restaurant, by a long shot. Thank you 1776!

    The food was great but our waitress, Heather, she took it up a notch. My husband is a vegetarian, we ordered a charcuterie app for the table. Heather thoughtfully brought the meats in a separate plate and the breads, cheeses and condiments in another. That was incredibly thoughtful of her, we did not even ask, she did it on her own. That kind of service is what makes a great evening extraordinary. Thank you!

    The trout entrée and the halibut entrée were excellent. The crab cake "nosh" was very well prepared, and tasted great.
