A $66 pork chop and a $39 bowl of pasta with a few shrimp (and neither with any sides) has taken inflation to the next level. This Charlestonian gem still pours a great cocktail and the host/hostess staff is always very welcoming.

We have been to Charleston many times. Heard many great things about Anson’s and finally decided to give it a try. The food was delicious as many people stated, however, the portion size is very small for to the price. I had the flounder which came with a scoop of coleslaw for $46. My wife had the shrimp pappardelle. Homemade pasta was delicious, minimal shrimp with the dish. Again, small portion for the price. The greeter at the door was very nice and showed much appreciation for coming to the restaurant. He was very inviting. Unfortunately, we didn’t feel the same vibe by our waiter. He came to the table and didn’t introduce himself. He asked 3 questions which seemed obligatory…what brings you to Charleston, are you having a good day, and how long you here for. We heard him ask the same questions to other tables around us. We answered all 3 questions and no further interaction. I’m not looking for a long dialogue, but some acknowledgment would be expected. We only found out the waiters name when it appeared on the bill. Bottom-line is that the food was very good but portion size is very much on the smaller size for the cost. Pace was comfortable. Drinks were on the expensive side…understand CHS pricing, but $14 for a light pour/glass of wine…maybe 3.5/4 oz. Food is great, just know what to expect.

Service was the most attentive, professional and friendly of any restaurant we’ve ever visited from the front desk, to the 2nd floor. The food was excellent, well presented and in appropriate proportion. The 4 of us could actually chat with only mild background music with tables spaced. We hadn’t been there for several years but it rivals any restaurant in our home towns of Atlanta and Philadelphia!

Our first Anson's dinner 3 weeks ago was phenomenal, so we returned on March 5th for a second dinner prior to departing Charleston. Our second dinner was equally phenomenal, and the service was impeccable. Ironically, the hostess sat us at the same booth and Darnell was our server for the second time. Darnell is a lot of fun and a true professional - the service team was awesome.
