Enjoyed another lovely dinner with my friend at the Back Burner in the Tavern. Our Autumn Salmon Salad was delicious with perfectly cooked salmon, roasted cauliflower and butternut squash, poached apples, pomegranate seeds and pepitas. Every bite had so many flavors! As a bonus, we dined during happy hour so our glasses of wine from the tap were so reasonable! Service was just right! We will dine again soon!

Sigh. Its close to my house and I've had good meals here but the last 2 trips make me want to not go back. Last night was a disaster for the kitchen and wait staff. I know because we waited a long time for stuff. My sandwich was good but my wife's fish was overcooked and cold somehow. The boomers next to us went nuts on the waiter because everything was cold. Somewhere in here is a good restaurant with good recipes and probably a good chef. Finding good wait staff in rural places is difficult so I doubt this problem is going to clear up any time soon. I don't want to write the place off but I'm going to give it several months before I try again. Maybe do the same.

Hadn’t been here in a couple years, and the mushroom pumpkin soup was as fabulous as always. The food was outstanding, and we had a delightful server named Evan who is very knowledgeable as well as very friendly. Gave us great service and we had a fantastic time.

I love the Back Burner and have been eating there for years. The ambiance is comfortable . It is a great place to meet friends for lunch or dinner. My experiences have not been consistent, however. Today I tried the pumpkin and mushroom soup. It was excellent-- but we had to send it back to the kitchen 2 times before it came back hot. The coffee my guest ordered was lukewarm. After having made an issue about the soup, she didn't complain about the coffee.

Excellent! We went on a Tuesday which is Burger Night. Delicious, I mean really good. We also tried a Berry dessert that was sooooo good. We will be back!

BEST shrimp lejon ever, crispy bacon and perfectly cooked shrimp. Delicious lump crab cake without a bunch of filler was the entree.

This is our second time eating at the Backburner and for the most part both experiences have been good. However last evening I ordered the crab cakes, I originally only ordered one and then decided at the recommendation of the server to order two. I could only get through one as it was so full of shell or hard cartilage there was crunch in every bite. Although full of crab, they lacked any flavor. The goat cheese whipped potatoes were nothing but mashed potatoes with goat cheese thrown on top. I was very disappointed with my entree. Although I’m sure we will return, the crab cakes are off the table.

Always enjoying going to dinner here. Good selection on the menu. Specials are always good. Mushroom pumpkin soup is amazing. Nice atmosphere and good service.
