Pat 'Pops' Newland has been serving authentic British fish and chips in London since 1945, and from this he has recreated a restaurant serving one of Britain's best-loved dishes in a friendly setting, surrounded by authentic 1940s/50s memorabilia lovingly curated by Pops himself. I would give maximum points, but I was disappointed it is a cashless establishment. If I'd have known I would not have gone. The idea of a cashless society is a terrifying one and I don't appreciate businesses that are encouraging this.

One of the best meals we’ve had for a long while, food was superb and we (6 of us) pretty much covered the menu! My only comment would be that service wasn’t the best, we had quite a variety of wine across courses, they hold the wine at the service station so they can pour (which is lovely) but they don’t keep a proper check so we sat around quite a bit waiting to be topped up, also at each course the wine arrived either part way through or in terms of the start course - after we’d finished Perfectly pleasant, nothing was too much trouble and the matre de is superb when involved
