Old Tbilisi Garden Is The Only Georgian Restaurant In Greenwich Village, New York City. Old Tbilisi Garden opened on July 4th, 2014. Since then, it has been one of the only few restaurants that offer authentic Georgian Cuisine in Manhattan. Winemaking is deeply rooted in Georgia’s history, cultureand economy. The world’s first cultivated grapevines arethought to have originated in the country’s fertile valleyssome 8,000 years ago. Georgia’s long winemaking historyhas given rise to unique methods of production, such asthe “Kakhetian rule”. Georgians make wine that is aged andstored in a special cone-shaped clay vessel known asa Qvevri.

Oda House Offers authentic Georgian cuisine and natural wines. A liberal use of spices, kebabs, khinkali (oversized meat-and-cheese dumplings), mtsvadi, khachapuri (Georgian cheese bread) and adjaruli (Cheese boat) typify the kitchen’s preparations. But, more classic dishes may reveal satsivi, or boiled chicken, served cool in a warmly spiced and seasoned walnut sauce, accompanied by gomi. Oda House uses mostly fresh and organic ingredients sourced from local farms. Menu has plenty of vegan and Gluten-free choices.Maia Acquaviva, managing partner and executive Chef of Oda House, brings Georgian cuisine and a dose of Georgian culture and pride to NY. The passion she had from an early age to cook blossomed. A lovely evening. Great food, wine and service. We had never had orange wine before and the waitstaff let us taste 2.varieties before committing to a $75 bottle. Menu offered just the right amount of choice and the courses were served with just enough time between to keep us going without feeling rushed or neglected. When we were done, we were not rushed out with the check. We stayed and chatted. It felt like we were in Europe rather than NYC. When the restaurant was full, it was a bit loud but not overwhelming.

Khinkali and khachapuri were bloody delicious and ambience is very cool and quiet. If you are in Manhattan you should definitely visit this 🇬🇪Georgian restaurant
