Situated on the High Street of Eton, close to the River Thames and between the historic buildings of Eton College and Windsor Castle, Gilbey's is open from 12 noon for lunch and 6pm for dinner every day.Originally an old butcher's shop, we created one of the first wine bars outside London in 1975 - The Eton Wine Bar. After 25 years of success, we changed the name in 2000 to Gilbey's, having recognised that our food had outgrown the original wine bar concept. With the interior bridging the gap between cosy old world and strikingly contemporary gives The Foresters a broad appeal – family friendly but popular with couples of all ages too. Not only highly recommended for its wide selection of beers, real ales and wines but for its regularly changing menu of gastropub style food mostly influenced by traditionally British flavours and local, seasonal produce. A perfect setting for a lingering evening meal and drinks or for a hearty lunch after a bracing walk around the local.

    A unique little restaurant with a good vibe. Good atmosphere and friendly service. Mains were reasonably priced but sides felt expensive for the size portion (red cabbage for example). The meat eaters enjoyed their mains (pork belly/chicken supreme) but I wouldn’t recommend place for vegetarians. Only one main (celeriac steak) that really wasn’t very nice. I’ve been vegetarian for 25plus years and don’t consider myself picky but I couldn’t finish it. I would go back if the vegetarian options were improved/more diverse.

    Dining with girl friends on a Wednesday night so not busy. Excellent food. Great service but not too intrusive. I had three courses and finished them all which I never normally do. I'd recommend it for small or large groups. We will definitely be going back.

    wonderful service, the meals were perfectly cooked and priced well for the standard we received. definitely will be back and can highly recommend.

    Had a roast dinner here several times and everything on the plate is always cooked to perfection! The roast meats are really good quality cuts and very tender. All served up with fresh Yorkshire puddings, veggies and generous gravy on the side.
