Casa Vega, in Sherman Oaks, opened its doors in 1956 and has been serving the people of Southern California ever since. Local residents, and even celebrities, have flocked to the family-run Mexican restaurant currently run by Christy Vega Fowler, daughter of original owner, Rafael Vega. While the decor is modern, the menu still reflects traditional Mexican menu staples. The extensive menu allows for every person to find something to enjoy. Homemade house guacamole, or one of the many soup or salad options, make for a great starter. The entree options are plentiful. Casa Vega serves everything from traditional chicken mole, a plethora of burrito options, combination plates and specialty options, such as carne chile Colorade and the signature Casa Vega molcajete.     It was our first time, and we enjoyed our experience. We tried the nachos, which were great, loaded with cheese and toppings, as well as a 3-item combo (2 cheese enchiladas and 1 potato taco). The enchiladas and rice were great; the potato filling in the taco and the beans were slightly under seasoned. Service was prompt and attentive (we went on a Saturday, at 5:30). Ambience is nice and we would return again.

    The food was amazing. Rib eye enchiladas were so good! The rib eye melts in your mouth and it's full of flavor with that chimichurri. It was my wife's first time and she loved it! I definitely will be back for more date nights.

    We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food we ordered. The tortilla soup was flavorful and just the right spice level. We split shrimp fajitas and the vegetables were perfectly cooked and maintained their color.
