We arrived here almost by accident. The places we "usually" go to locally were booked out for the times we wanted to dine - since it was Valentine's Day. But it was a very happy accident. Bistro 1 is a brilliant place to dine and celebrate. The staff were attentive, but not intrusive; the menu interesting; the ambiance modern and spacious. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu. So my partner's main course was barramundi, instead of the rockling she'd initially favoured. It was great advice. We began with a grilled calamari entree, which was lovely; tender and smoky, like a barbecue. For my main course, I chose the spaghetti marinara. It was, quite simply, the best I've had in years: mussels, scallops, prawns and fish chunks topped by a whole crab. Spectacular, and delicious. We shared a lemon meringue pie for dessert; tangy and delicious, topped by a pompadour of singed meringue. We could feel the happiness and enjoyment from other diners around us; they spoke to neighbouring tables about the treats from what they ordered. Valentine's Day 2025 was our first visit to Bistro 1. It certainly won't be our last.

Great food, fast service, cocktails were fabulous, staff friendly and efficient. But the music is so loud and makes it a tad difficult to carry a conversation. Maybe they could turn the music down to a background level whilst dinner service is happening (or in the dining area) and then turn it up later in the evening ? Just a thought.

You order your meal at the counter much like a pub. Ordered grilled chicken and salad around $23 but chicken was very dry and sauce like Cesar sauce made the salad soggy. No taste at all in this meal. How do you overcook chicken when grilling it, probably it was already cooked and heated up. Ordered a rose until we were shown a small tin of sparkling rose so instead had a glass of white wine Pino Gris $12 nota particularly great quality wine I suspect a cheap bottle of wine. Service was good very pleasant staff and friendly. Not really great value. The tart and ice cream was a shared dish and was enjoyable. I’m not sure I would return again.

We were a table of 4 on Sunday 8/2 The staff were friendly, helpful and professional The vibe was relaxed The food and drinks menu is extensive with so many great choices Our meals were Fish Curry with rice - delicious 3 fish tacos - yummy Fish burger - Very good Fish n chips - Tasty I am local to Mordi and this place is always very busy. Booking is a must

We love coming here for trivia but it was very hot and stuffy especially when the window shutter was closed. Is there some other way there could be ventilation especially on the warmer days?
