Our magical conservatory restaurant is set amid Updown’s rambling grounds. Dine under the grape vines surrounded by beautiful 17th century brick and watch the chefs in the open kitchen tending to the wood fired grill and original farm house bread oven. The restaurant has been completely transformed by owners Ruth and Oli to be heated and fully enclosed and is open year round.Menus will be small, hyper seasonal and use the best of local and European produce and change on regular basis to reflect what’s best. Everything is cooked over wood in the open kitchen. There is a short list of exciting wines of limited availability, local beers and seasonal cocktails.On Wednesday nights in place of our à la carte we cook a Steak Night menu , priced at £30 per person for 3 courses. On Sunday nights the restaurant is closed but we serve a light supper for hotel guests in the Farmhouse.

Ham Sandwich Tap Room takes pride of place in charming 17th century surroundings at rural retreat, The Blazing Donkey. Located just off the A258 between Deal & Sandwich, our dining room is a 4th year recipient of the coveted AA rosette award for culinary excellence. Our tap room is a unique collaboration with Eastry artisan brewer Time & Tide, whose award winning beers are carefully curated and complement a wonderful range of wines. Unfussy, clean & simple dishes prepared entirely from fresh local produce (cooked exceptionally well) is what you may expect. Our kitchen team source virtually all their ingredients locally, including seafood from Jenkins and Sons of Deal. Our vibe is relaxed; whether fireside dining in the Winter or alfresco terrace dining in the Summer, you are welcome the entire year round.

The Michelin Starred, Fordwich Arms, located in the smallest town in England, dates as far back as 1828. The seasonal menus focus on provenance, showcasing the best of local Kentish ingredients, sourced directly from local farms and producers. Amazing food, really enjoyed everything we ordered. Door staff very friendly and helpful. Waiting staff not so! Felt like we were putting our waitress out by just being there. No interaction or helpful answers to our menu questions. Despite the service being less than expected standard we still left a tip which was not even acknowledged.

Thought the service was very good, food also very good, really friendly atmosphere. Need to lower the price of the Chapel Down, I pay approximately £140 per case, and that's brut, the one for £47 per bottle is very steep. But it won't stop us returning. Loved the place.
