The Hop Vine formerly the ‘Royal Hotel’ was built in 1874 and was the main stopping off point for goods being transported to and from the old Turnpike road the A59. The Royal as it was known has served the community and travellers alike. To the rear of the building in our historic Cobbled Garden you will find our own brewery housed in the stables which were used for the horses and stage coaches as they passed through the village. From Ales to YPA’s, to Blonde beers we are a small producer using primary English hops brewing exclusively in house for The Hop Vine and our sister pub the Legh Arms.Our countryside sister the Legh Arms is our latest addition to the family and is situated in the pretty hamlet of Mere Brow. Our pan-Asian menu gathers influences of cooking styles from all around Asia; including Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, China, Indonesia and Vietnam. The design of the restaurant is influenced by some of our favourite places to eat and drink, it takes its cues from the street food ‘Hawker’ markets of Penang mixed with the reclaimed building feel of Budapest’s ruin bars. We ordered the pumpkin fritte and rocket salad for appetisers, the spaghetti with parsley, chilli and breadcrumbs, fettuccine with Cornish crab and the tomato and mozzarella pizzetta. We had heard good things and had obviously seen the Instagram hype but even still it exceeded expectations. Everything was 10/10. Best tiramisu I’ve ever had! We will be back.

We lunched with friends who had never been to Albert’s and they were amazed at the quality and value for money of the food. The drinks were equally good value …£8 for an Espresso Martini is brilliant. We asked to change tables and they did this for us and without fuss. Our server was friendly and very competent and the decor and ambience were first class. You have gained two new customers who no doubt tell their friends, As for us, Albert’s has never let us down.

I had Porcini & Truffle Tagliatelle with mushrooms and parmesan, it was delicious. Two courses for £14.95, which I felt was very good value. I highly recommend this lovely restaurant, the staff are very polite and helpful. At the moment it looks very Christmasy, lovely.
