Mizuno Japanese Restaurant is a family-run business that first opened in 1996. Located in Virginia Beach, Mizuno is embedded in a seafood hotspot, only 25 miles south of the Eastern Shore of Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay, and 158 miles south of Hatteras, North Carolina. Chef-owner Wataru Mizuno feels blessed to be a sushi chef in a culinary trifecta like Virginia Beach. Mizuno and his team take advantage of the restaurant's access to local sources by artfully composing daily specials that feature fresh shrimp, yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, flounder, blue crabs and oysters, to name a few. The hook's simple. Mizuno resists complicated sauces and excessive ingredients. Instead, he flavors scallops from the world famous Chesapeake Bay, adding nothing more, at times, than a dash of citrus and a pinch of sea salt. We visited The Hunt Room in Virginia Beach, a few days before Christmas, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. The ambiance is cozy and elegant, with the holiday spirit adding an extra layer of charm. Sitting by the fire made the evening feel even more special. The food was exceptional, with every dish crafted to perfection. The drinks were just as impressive—both the espresso martini and the smoked old fashioned are must-tries! They were expertly prepared and perfectly complemented the warm, inviting atmosphere. The Hunt Room is the ideal spot for a memorable night out, whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a place to unwind. We’ll definitely be back!

Our reservation was for 6:15; however, our event prior ended early and we showed up about 45 mins early. Aldo’s was happy to accommodate our party. Vinny was our server, and we had a wonderful evening! Thank you, Aldos is one of our favorite go tos, and we appreciate the quality, the longevity, and the wonderful atmosphere. It made our evening fantastic and memorable!

Kira was a splendid hostess esp with too many children opening the external doors to let the heat out; their parents did not seem to mind. This is a nice way to spend an hour in the run up to Xmas but if you are old and hard of hearing (we are both :-)), being close to the live music is not an easy experience. Attentive service with a smile and and nice combination of flavours and texture for the tea, sandwiches and savouries. Looking forward to next year’s.

Wonderful place for both food and service. This small intimate restaurant is a change from the noisy sports bars etc. that are so popular now, plus they don't have a TV!
