It has been a couple years since I have visited Kona Grill in Troy. I was surprised at the significant jump in prices across the menu. Kona Grill used to be a good value for dining out, but when comparing the prices to Bonefish Grill just a mile down the road, prices are nearly 25% higher for similar menu items and I would say the quality and portions are the same. Prices are up at all restaurants, but I will be surprised if Kona Grill remains open when comparing prices to nearby equivalent options.

Kinda tired looking and it didn’t look like the floor had been swept or vacuumed in days. There was food and paper everywhere. It was the same in the bathroom too.

Server wasn’t over all the time we didn’t get our food fast enough and needed water and even waited to get the bill

It was NYE so I understand my experience may not be the ordinary experience at Kona but it was not a great experience overall. We weren’t seated until 20-30 minutes after our reservation time. Our first round of drinks showed up about 30 minutes after ordering. Steaks were not cooked properly likely due to how thin of a cut the ribeye was. Overall food quality does not match the price. Ended up being there over 3 hours due to all of the waiting for seating, food, and drinks which ate into our NYE plans for the night. The server and manager were apologetic and kind throughout the process so I’m not blaming anyone I just think they simply couldn’t handle the busy night.

The staff were working on overdrive it was New Years Eve and the reservations were backed up. The hostess and wait staff did decent job. For your anniversary you generally receive Bubbles we don't drink alcohol and were told we would get a mocktail...never did..it appeared even management was assisting but never stopped by our table (only 4). I guess I am spoiled when I think of exemplary service. We DID get a dessert to share and the food was ok. The Brussel sprouts were disappointing. The appetizers were delivered quickly and after asking for additional silverware, it was good! Calamari and Tempura Shrimp. Hubby absolutely enjoyed his steak. I will try again, just not on a holiday and definitely not for an anniversary.

KG had a limited menu on New Year’s Eve, which was incredibly disappointing and really narrowed down the food options. The service was intermittent and seemed understaffed and/or overwhelmed, yet everything felt very rushed. Based on this year’s experience, we won’t be back on NYE for dinner.

We spent a lot of money expecting a nice atmosphere. The restaurant was cluttered and in a bit of disrepair. The server was stressed and overloaded, but definitely was trying his best. Took a long time to get a drink - were told because there was only one bartender. Potsticker appetizer was good. Sea bass had a fishy flavor and wasn't good. Macadamia chicken had some flavor but over cooked and very dry. Spent over $170 with tip and have had better food at the local diner. Very disappointed. Won't be back.

Me and my boyfriend loved his 12oz steak he ordered it was really tasty especially with the butter. However the Lobster Mac wasn’t fresh looked like it sat out for a bit (the cheese on top) and it wasn’t good at all. The Spicy Shrimp Tempura appetizer wasn’t tasty either, little to no flavor and definitely not spicy. Half of it was cold while the other half was hot. I also ordered the Lemon Garlic Penne, very flavorless only thing that saved it was the Shrimp. Price point for everything was extremely high considering the ambience could be a bit nicer and the food wasn’t up to par. However our server Anna was great along with the host. Didn’t get her name but she had short dark hair.
