Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous Fried Chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. Possibly the best meal I’ve had all year. The Ice Ice Baby martini was as cold and delicious as it sounded. The cheesecake was unbelievable- I think it was the honey. And the dinner? Holy Cow. We all tried different things. As hard as it is to pick one thing, I’d say the wild boar ribs and the meatball dishes were the most amazing. I’m told they change the menu frequently; and I can’t wait for the next adventure. Am I overselling this place? I don’t think so. I joined this app just to write this review. Worth it. Oh! The gentleman who waited on us was a delight as well 😀

The pescatarian rice table for two was perfect. The small dishes, followed by the entrees, and finally the dessert, were perfect in quality, quantity, and flavor. The service was amazing. All together, this was a great experience.
