Welcome to Sugar Boat - a relaxed & informal neighbourhood bistro in the heart of the town on Colquhoun Square, a stones throw from the sea front. We are open daily from 7.30am (8.30am on Saturday & 9am on Sunday's) through until late. We serve everything from breakfast with a cracking fry up or eggs benedict with or avocado & poached eggs on toast. For lunch & dinner we offer a la carte menus. Lunch is the more informal with burgers, fish & chips & daily sandwiches. Dinner can be a little more special. Cakes, scones & savoury snacks are available all day. We have a Wine Shop for off sales from our extensive list of over 100 wines - everything from £9.50 per bottle upwards. Have been to the sugar boat a couple of times and always enjoyed the homemade feel and authenticity of the food. The staff were very friendly and the food this time was generally really good. I was just a bit disappointed with the homemade burger, it was very dence, dry and seemed over cooked, seemed to have no moisture in it at all, could be the fat to meat content in the mince used, if it’s homemade could you offer to cook it slightly under, so much so I only ate a bit of it! I had the scollops from the specials menu as a starter these were very tasty, and my friend also had humounus and sourdough which he enjoyed a lot and he went on to have fish and chips which he thought was very good. Will not put me of going again, but would put me off having the burger again!

From the moment we arrived, we were made very welcome. The service was exceptionally friendly. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant but then moved outside for drinks because the weather was so good and the views from the beer garden are spectacular! We’ll be back soon!
