Obika was created in Rome in 2004. The chain now has over 20 branches, in Italy, the United Kingdom and the US, and has become very popular. The first Japanese branch opened in Roppongi Hills in 2007, followed by Tokyo Midtown in 2013. The main feature of the menu is fresh Mozzarella cheese directly imported from Italy. Artisan producers use traditional methods to form each cheese from 100% Campania buffalo milk. The natural sweetness of the milk is complemented with exactly the right amount of salt, and the result is an elastic, juicy cheese. In addition, dough said to have originated from the Roman “pinza” is used for the pizzas. Wonderful Italian wines are the ideal companion for the food, made with Italian ingredients such as prosciutto and fresh vegetables delivered straight from the producers. Lunch is a taste of Italy ? pasta, dolci and espresso.
