Before Stuft Pizza gained recognition as a top restaurant in Palm Desert, and La Quinta, Jack Bertram and his wife, Pat, launched the first Stuft Pizza in Cerritos, California in 1976. After nearly 9 months of experimenting, Jack developed the recipe for the now beloved pizza. Despite initially offering only take-out pizza, the store's unwavering commitment to quality propelled its success. Two years later, Jack and Pat opened a second store in Whittier, and in 1986, Stuft Pizza transitioned into a franchise.While franchisee-owned outlets operate outside the Coachella Valley, the Stuft Pizza Bar & Grill locations in the desert, both owned by the Bertram Family, are distinct.
