TAVERNA is nestled in Saskatoon's historic downtown core within walking distance of a number of major hotels in the renowned entertainment district. The building was originally the grocery section of the J.F. Cairns Dept. Store dating back to 1907. Taverna still maintains this historical charm and character, serving delicious, rustic, exceptionally well-prepared Italian food since 1969. Simultaneously comfortable and authentic, yet aspirational. We believe that keeping the food fresh, simple and whole is the secret to a successful dish. Italian food doesn't have to be complicated or elaborate to be spectacular. You just start with high-quality ingredients like: intensely flavored tomatoes, fresh garlic, warm basil, thick golden oil of first pressed olives... and the conscious effort to find them locally grown, organic, seasonal and sustainable when ever possible.

We had a business meal with 8 and I cannot think of anyway to improve our evening. Our single wait staff handled our entire food and beverage service professionally, friendly and quickly with absolutely no mistakes, she was The Best. The food is as it always is at Taverna, second to none. Wonderful appetizers, spectacular mains and a good selection of drinks to accompany any choice of food. We all had an evening to remember

We dined on a Sunday for my birthday. Emily was our server and we were so impressed with the extra special service we received. We were met at the door by Emily who showed us to our lovely garden view table. Coffee was already on the table for us. We ordered from the brunch menu. Both the Ukrainian Breakfast and the Duck Confit was delicious. We even got a little surprise from the kitchen for a birthday treat. Definitely worth it to come here, prices were reasonable and service was excellent.

Great food, smaller appetizer portions so order extra. Service was good. Bathrooms could use an update for a place that has $1400 wine on the list.

This restaurant shares the kitchen with Carvers so there are real chefs making the food. We always have a nice quiet visit and an excellent meal.

We have not had a bad meal and the service is always excellent. Try the shrimp taco’s as they are amazing.
