Malin is a small neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Rathdowne Village, Carlton North. Set in an 1880s property on the corner of Curtain and Rathdowne streets, the site has been renovated to honour the heritage of the building. The food menu, developed by Chef Clement Pilatre, samples European cuisine and showcases seasonal produce and frequently changing dishes. The drinks list favours emerging wine producers, while also giving a nod to the classics. Backed by travel and research every few months we pick a new region from India to explore and discover new hyper regional cuisine. This season we are cooking Parsi menu, a delightful blend of Persian and Gujarati flavors, reflecting the rich heritage of the Parsi community that migrated to Gujarat hundred’s of years ago to call India their home. Characterised by its use of fragrant spices, dried fruits, and a balance of sweet and tangy flavors, Parsi dishes are both unique and comforting. Parsi food often features an interplay of textures and flavors, with influences from their Persian roots and adaptations to local Indian ingredients, creating a culinary experience that’s both diverse and distinctive. Outstanding in every way from the moment you enter. There was clearly a lot of thought behind the restaurant. The room is lovely, tables set with linen. The room feels serene and luxurious. The food is superb, modern French with an Australian accent. Every dish was outstanding. Service is relaxed and friendly. I highly recommend a dinner at Malin. I look forward to a return visit.

Great local place. A bit of a hidden gem. Drink service was a little slow but overall it was a great place to eat and we will be back.
