The inspiring 1912 architecture was retained, but the ambiance is urban contemporary. A TASTE OF TRADITIONThe original Carmella's Cafe, located in New Hartford, New York, opened in 1985. Our goal was to provide our guests with the warmth, charm and quality of a local "Mom & Pop" restaurant with the consistency and controls of a well managed chain. Homemade soups, sauces, pasta, bread served by warm friendly, caring servers was the essence of our business. Our people have to demonstrate an "I care about you" attitude in order to work at Carmella's. We never intended it to be a fancy place... just a place where people of all ages could find good food value and fun in a casual, friendly surrounding! We are now re-dedicating our efforts to those original ideas and are committed to providing our guests with a great experience based on fresh, well prepared food served by people who really care.     Our party of 3 had dinner on a Saturday night recently. It was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the charcuterie plate and scallops with butternut squash to start. One on our party had the filet mignon special, one had the cauliflower steak, and one had the duck confit from the prix fixe menu. Everything was excellent. We finished the meal with the coffee cake and pot de creme. It was one of the best meals we’ve ever had and it’s amazing this place is in my old hometown I rarely get to visit! I loved that there was a prix fixe menu we could order items from. Wonderful place, wonderful service, great space. Can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in Utica.

    5-star experience all the way around. Our party of 6 sampled across the food and drink menus, including desserts. We were not disappointed! Such a treat to find in downtown Utica. We will be back!

    This is a beautiful restaurant in an historical Utica hotel. The food is outstanding with top notch service. Our waitress, Jackie, was very attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this place!
