Situated in the historic village of Aylesford, The Hengist is a modern restaurant and bar, a short walk from the river's edge.The 16th Century building stands with original features, offering a perfect balance of elegance, heritage and modernity all surrounded by manicured gardens. The Hengist offers a range of dining options including a casual dining option on the ground floor and two more formal dining rooms upstairs along with outside terrace dining in our gardens. We offer seasonal 'a la carte and 'set' menus along with a 'Sunday lunch' menu. All of our dishes are freshly made to order with locally sourced ingredients.

Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do. I tried this for the first time on Thursday, taking advantage of their fixed price lunch menu. Wow! Delicious food & excellent value for money. Service was faultless and the restaurant itself is beautifully & sumptuously decorated. I’ll definitely be back and I’m already recommending it to my friends as the go-to Turkish restaurant in the area. 10/10 ❤️

Hadn't been there for many years and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great, hot and tasty. The waitress was run of her feet but nothing was too much for her. I would certainly recommend. The only grouse would be, a coffee would have been preferable instead of a pint of lemonade
