Koshō Restaurant at The Barlow is a modern Japanese and sushi restaurant in Sebastopol with a progressive focus on food, local ingredients, and sustainability. Koshō derives its moniker from the condiment of the same name, Yuzu Koshō. Known for its spicy, acidic and balanced nature, it appears throughout the menu in various forms; including Meyer lemon, grapefruit, and satsuma orange koshō. Our chef, Jake Rand, has traveled to many of the famous markets in Japan and has a vast knowledge of selecting top ingredients and the freshest fish and has over 20 years of experience preparing them.

Inspired by Italy’s aperitivo hour, when public squares and streets are filled with lively conversation, Portico serves handmade and authentic Italian fare in Sebastopol in western Sonoma County.A portico is a colonnade or covered walkway in classical architecture. Since the middle ages the elegant porticos of Bologna, Italy have a meeting place for the public as well as a place for business. Paolo Pedrinazzi (who is from Bologna) and Kat Escamilla, owners of the new Portico trattoria , bring this experience to Sebastopol. They even have monthly Regional dinner parties with live jazz.The setting includes an Italian fountain on their cozy patio. Portico offers light table service and counter ordering. Excellent Italian wines are sold in the restaurant at retail pricing; refreshingly unpretentious. The menu features an array of antipasti, handmade egg pasta, gluten free risottos, Bolognese lasagna, tiramisu, and baked goods . A market in the front is stocked with take-n-bake entrees

    What an amazing experience! The food was fun, surprising and most of all delicious! The staff were kind, engaging and very thoughtful. We were celebrating our 1 year anniversary and they were very celebratory with us. Including complimentary champagne. A Gluten free menu was provided for us and all the items were perfection. The atmosphere was cozy, comfortable and welcoming. A new favorite for sure, and we will be back!

    The service, the food were superb! The only reason I gave fewer stars was about half of the indoor dining area has uncomfortable seating. Bankette seats were too high yet tabletops ridiculously low. The tables in the center had low chairs and high tabletops. The booths are great and the covered outdoor seating is high quality. Friendly and attentive wait staff and delicious food. This place is right around the corner from my house and I want this place to be successful for many years to come.
