The Bateman Arms was built c.1750 by Sir James Bateman (Lord Mayor Of London) as a building where his Estate workers would collect on pay day. Over the years it became a staging post for weary Drovers to refresh themselves as they walked livestock from West Wales to markets in Birmingham and London.Today, Mike Pope and his team provide a warm welcome to both locals and the many business and leisure visitors who travel to the Marches throughout the year. An outstanding experience from the service, to music choice, to food, to cocktails. You know they care and put their all into the restaurant and it truly shows. Easily the best steakhouse in the West Midlands. I’m already planning my next trip. Thank you so much for an exceptional evening.

Lovely place with a nice ambience. Staff were friendly & Service was excellent. Food was delicious, every plate we had was tasty & wine was good. Cannot fault the place it was a wonderful night.

Just a nice relaxing atmosphere for lunch. Food wasn’t complicated but excellently presented and really tasty. Girls serving couldn’t be more helpful and polite. We love treating ourselves to a meal at Carriages or the Sidings, we will be back!

Another lovely meal at The Batemans. A cold night but the pub was warm and welcoming. Menu has a good choice and a specials board too. Sausage and mash and Chicken and Ham pie were delicious.
