The last time I dined here while in town, it was outstanding. This time, my popovers were burnt and the mussels had so little sauce it was hard to get any with the bites. I believe there was an event there which could have thrown off the staff, but the experience was a big disappointment.

This is my second time visiting 1776 in the last month. In terms of the food, the first time was better. In terms of service, the second time was better. In terms of drinks, I would say even. I love the energy in this restaurant. The crowd tends to be on the "older" side which is perfect for me as I'm in my mid-40's. It's rare that you find 21 years olds in a restaurant like this where food & drinks are bit more expensive. When we 1st arrived, we sat at the bar and had a drink. One bartender definitely makes a cosmopolitan better than the other. However, the gentleman that took our order and made my husbands drink was AWESOME - super friendly and my hubby loved his cocktail. He had someone else make my cosmo. We saw old friends that we hadn't seen in ages so we were a bit distracted when it came to ordering. After our waiter came over multiple times, we finally ordered. I'm sure he wanted to get off of work ASAP. There was a TON of staff working so our water was always full, table cleared, etc. The staff was super attentive. Our veggies came out before our entree. We were told to steer away from the entrees. In our case, the fish was cooked perfectly but the miso wasn't as flavorful as we thought it would be. We loved the bacon, tuna & salmon tartar. We were bummed that the mushroom were sold out (our favorite side) so we had the asparagus. The lobster mac & cheese was by far the best we have ever had. AMAZING!! We were disappointed in the dessert which he took off of the bill. Overall, really really good experience but not the best or 10 stars. I'd say a solid 7 - an 8 if I didn't have my "call out". I'm picky as I lived in Manhattan for 10 years and work in the food industry. It's 100% worth the price and I would tell people to go for the food, drinks, scene & energy. One call out, I DID NOT like seeing the staff cut garnish on serving trays. That's disgusting and why I said "7". 1776 is a great addition to Morristown!!!

I had dined here before and enjoyed it, not so much this time. The service was barely adequate for a restaurant with these prices, when the dinners were served, they had no idea who was supposed to get what dish and served the men at the table before the women. All the main dishes were lukewarm at best and the onion rings were so bad we sent them back. I was taking a client there and hoped to impress, that did not happen.

Average food. Outstanding ambience and service but the prices are a tad ridiculous for morristown. No reason to charge NYC prices.

beautiful place with a great atmosphere. Food (Lamb/steak) was undercooked and when returned it was overcooked and inedible. The seafood tower was delicious and drinks perfect.

While the food was delicious, we were rushed, having sat down, had drinks and dinner in 45 minutes. We were asked if we were celebrating anything and even they it was noted it was our anniversary they did not give us anytime to actually sit and enjoy. Our beverage that was ordered when our food arrived, came when we had finished dinner. For the price and experience we expected to have we were very disappointed.
