Was a busy night and the service staff never let a smile leave their face, they were always lovely and friendly considering our booking was double booked so we didn't get the table we wanted, there was no chicken, no rosé, ran out of potato's and oysters. The food we ordered was lovely

While the staff was friendly, unfortunately, the rest of the experience left much to be desired. We waited over 30 minutes without anyone coming to take our drink order or even fill water. The oysters were served with an extremely hot sauce, but there was no warning or explanation about the condiments. The main dishes were also disappointing — the pig cheek was overly salty, and the beef braised was not particularly enjoyable. On a positive note, the wine selection was good, but overall, the experience fell short of expectations.

Was really looking to our meal before the booked ghost tour. Booked to allow enough time for the tour, the young ladies were very polite in their service. I want to actually give the service staff a shout out, having to do the job knowing that we were not happy with the wait time and food. However firstly the first three things on the menu that I ordered including the wine they did not have. Then the food took way too long to come out and when it did, I could not eat the oysters I ordered as the three sauces that went with it spoilt the whole meal. The octopus meal was nothing like I had expected again the sauce ruined the whole meal. I have never given a poor review, this is my first time. I normally do reviews giving appreciative feedback. Though it does warrant feedback to do better 1830. Very disappointed.

It had the makings of a fine restaurant, but unfortunately, it fell short on both service and food. We waited 45 minutes for any food to arrive, and when it did, one of our dishes was missing. To order a second round of drinks, I had to get up and ask. When the drinks finally arrived, they were delivered to the wrong table. None of them had ice, and one drink was incorrect. The food itself was poorly prepared. The abalone was overcooked and rubbery, the octopus was undercooked, and the greens were burnt. The cheesecake was so overdone that we had to cut away the entire outer layer, and the poached pear was like a rubbery ball—impossible to cut without a knife from the main course. At one point, two staff members approached our table. It was clear we were having a bad experience, but instead of apologizing for the issues (incorrect orders, inattentive service), they pressed us to share what we did like. While the wallaby was very nice and my 11-year-old enjoyed his chicken nuggets, there was no acknowledgment of the mistakes made, no follow-up, and nothing said as we left—not even the customary, "Did you enjoy your evening?" Overall, it was a deeply disappointing experience considering the price. This restaurant left a very poor taste in every sense.

A surprisingly delicious dinner, lots of native flavours and unexpected combinations that worked so well. We came for the view and left amazed at the quality of the food, highly recommended

Food was delicious and the service was great with staff sharing plenty of knowledge of the history of Port arthur.

Absolutely delicious meal, we both hard market fish of the day. Friendly, helpful staff. Didn’t particular enjoy the bench table sitting side by side opposed to opposite, and the light being behind us so body cast shadow over meal and couldn’t really see well. Would look beautiful during day light overlooking the historic site.

The meal was amazing. The lamb was very tender, the polenta was great (have never had it prepared this way) but it was disappointing they didn’t have any cocktails or even the liquor to make the affogato that was on the menu.

The food is amazing and if you go in daylight time the view is spectacular. Great local seafood. The new lamb fish was mouthwatering. Add in great Tassie wine and 1830 makes a date night very memorable indeed.
