A Salute is an Italian restaurant & full service cocktail bar located in an 1850 Church on Main Street in Matawan, NJ (Three minute walk from train station). The 170 year old building has kept its character and warmth to provide a comfortable setting for families and friends to enjoy a great lunch or dinner. Outdoor dining with a full service bar and oversized patio.

Karaoke every Friday Night!

Lunch Available daily from 11:30-3:30pm. Happy Hour daily from 3:00pm-6:00pm featuring 1/2 off drinks and select appetizers. Dinner begins at 4:00pm.

We are now offering a $60 pp Family Style Dinner, 7 Days a week, incl. holidays. Minimum 2 ppl required. Kids 10 and Under Eat Free!

                        Overpriced Italian food. Small portions. You could do better at Olive Garden. Music was so loud you couldn’t hear each other talk. Water was dripping. In the restaurant during rain

                        They did not have the service together and the roof was leaking. It was so crowded and they were not on track with their reservations. They had plastic cups on new years and was charging fine dining prices. I was very disappointed!

                        Unfortunately we went here for a 30th birthday celebration (only 4 people) and the restaurant was either short staffed or the waiter really didn’t like us. The food sat under the warmer for far too long so by the time it got to us it was very baked. The drinks were incredible but we were never asked for another round. We will try again with a different waiter.

                        Two extra charges really annoyed me - additional 4% for using a credit card and an extra charge for sharing a salad(ridiculous)! My check was an extra $20 for these two items and had nothing to do with food or drinks. Disappointed because the food and service were very good.

                        I reserved a table in the enclosed patio area and probably will not next time. It was a bit chilly as the back wall to the outside looked like a heavy clear tarp. There was nobody else in our section everyone else was in the bar area. We weren’t given the option to switch to the bar area which I would have preferred. Much warmer. The food was average portions were small especially the appetizers. Overpriced.

                        Had dinner for my mom's birthday. Everyone was great from the service to the food. I would definitely recommend it!

                        So I came here on Christmas Eve with family and the food and the ambience was so great that I had to come back with my friends. This is a must try food and ambience is absolutely out of this world. Prices are fair. Staff is super friendly and kind we will be returning Soon.

                        We have dined at this restaurant previously with no issues. We made reservations for 7:45pm Christmas Eve dinner about 2 days prior. We arrived on time, we were seated within a few minutes of arriving. I wouldn’t say the restaurant was busy, but there were several large parties in the room with us (to be expected on Christmas Eve). The waiter took our drink order after about 10 min. Drinks took about 30 minutes to reach us, not all drinks arrived. We ordered food, and the wait began. Waiter did not come back to refill any drinks. At 9pm, the other tables (who had arrived before us) began to complain they had been waiting for HOURS for food that had not arrived yet. When our wait time hit 1.5 hours, I questioned the manager, to which he said “your food will be out in 2 minutes”. Which it was not. After 2 hours and almost 10pm, we requested to pay for the drinks and leave, as we never received food…2 hours at the table, no food. Manager says “your food will be ready in 5 minutes”. No sir, you will not lie to my face a second time. Tables before us STILL waiting for food. At this point, we insist on the check. Hunger has come and gone, it’s nearing 10pm, we’ve now lost the ability to go anywhere else. 25 minutes later, still waiting for the check. Our party finally got up and waited in the ‘lobby area’, only at this point did the staff begin to tally up our bill. I will say, one of the wait staff was very apologetic and tried to make things right, I cannot say this for the manager. Here’s a tip: don’t lie to your patrons. They know when you’re lying. If you’re backed up, level with them. Give people a chance to make a decision to stay or go somewhere else. I can assure you, ever person in the dining room was angry, some tables had young children still waiting on food at 10pm! I can’t see the negative reviews being worth it.
