A traditional and comforting treat, afternoon tea at South Lodge, an Exclusive Hotel is a delight.

Sitting in one of the lounges in the spring sunshine, relaxing outside on the terrace on a blazing summer's day, overlooking the display of autumn colours or snuggled deep in a sofa by a roaring log fire in the lounge during the winter months. Our afternoon tea is a joy for every generation and reflects the seasons too.

                Incredible setting and a very friendly service. Even when passing by staff in the corridor their politeness was exceptional. We had afternoon tea on Christmas Eve with our 2 very young kids. The staff were very accommodating. Good food. Great venue.

                Best afternoon tea I’ve had. Wonderful setting, excellent food which was replenished if you wanted, nice relaxed atmosphere and good service what more could you want.

                The food for our afternoon tea was very good and plentiful. Our initial welcome was as we would have expected from a hotel such as South Lodge; however, the service during our tea was poor. We waited about 20 minutes before our drinks arrived and then a further 20 minutes for our food to be served. When my friend’s tea ran out we eventually managed to attract the attention of the waitress who then promptly forgot about coming over to us after she had finished serving someone else. In the end, I had to go out and ask for some service. Up to this point, no-one had asked us if we were enjoying our tea, no-one asked if we needed anything and in effect, we were ignored. Finally some more tea was brought over and we were then paid attention to by other staff, but unfortunately it was too late then to take away our disappointment at the overall lacklustre service.

                A lovely Afternoon Tea in celebration of a Wedding Anniversary. A nice touch was a plate with " Happy Anniversay" in chocolate sauce and 2 truffles...... Staff were very attentive, with plenty of "top ups" if required. Beautiful setting, dining area and outside, where we spent an hour or so just admiring the views!! All in all a wonderful experience.

                The service we received was second to none; everyone was so attentive & we never felt like we were ever left waiting. The food was exceptional, especially the scones. Both my wife & father-in-law had special dietary requirements; I mentioned my wife's when I booked but unfortunately, I failed to mention the fact that my father-in-law was a diabetic. But as soon as I mentioned this on arrival, my concerns over what he might be able to eat were alleviated; I was told that they would be able to provide cakes/scones that were suitable for diabetics. This really impressed me due to no advanced warning being given. My father-in-law was very pleased that he would be able to join in with the full afternoon experience; this made his day. I can only thank the hotel and it's staff for making the day so special.

                We had a lovely time. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was the assumption that service was included. I expect this when on a large table, but was having tea for two. I didn’t say anything at the time as it was my treat and I didn’t want to make a fuss.
