Alta Via invites you to participate in a Feast of the Seven Fishes tasting menu for one night only, Monday, December 23rd. The full Feast of the Seven Fishes menu is available to view online at www.altaviapgh.com. Please note that this is a family-style tasting menu; the a la carte menu will not be available to guests reserving a table for the Feast of the Seven Fishes. When making your reservation, please note any allergies or dietary restrictions so we can ensure the best experience possible for you and your guests.     Light up Night in Pittsburgh !!! Absolutely no Christmas Lights or Christmas Decorations in the Restaurant. I would also have liked to hear Christmas music playing in the background. Disappointed with their efforts in making Light Up Night a special event. Food and service were very good though.

    Came here for lunch before Light Up Night. Atmosphere was lovely. Food was very good - the smaller lunch portions are perfect. The kitchen was a bit slow for not being too crowded but overall a good experience.

    A spacious restaurant with good distance between tables and excellent appetizers, drinks and pastas. The burrata was excellent with its tomato accompaniment and bread -- there were only 4 pieces of grilled bread and an option to get more of that bread would have been great as it really complemented the burrata (the bread is different from the table bread). The meatball appetizer was also delicious - you get three of them in a wonderful sauce. Two of us chose to split the 3 appetizer meatballs instead of adding 2 meatballs without the sauce to our pasta dishes. The pasta dishes were a mixed bag. My daughter's bucatini cacio e pepe was terrible - the sauce was broken and it was too salty and too greasy. She ended up leaving most of it . The lumache bolognese and butternut squash ravioli were excellent and the malfadine in mushroom bolognese and papardelle with short rib sugo were pretty good. Half servings of pasta would be enough for most people, making this a great value.

    Service was excellent and the food was outstanding. They had a gluten free pasta for one of us and my pasta was delicious. Our other diner really liked the chicken parm.

    My fav dish there, Cacio e Pepe, was a bit disappointing. Way too much sauce. The Frito misto was OK. The Aperol spritz was fantastic!

    The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and our server was very good. The food overall was good but the rigatoni was subpar. It was completely dry with no residual sauce and was al dente++ Our son ordered chicken parm and a side of pasta. His pasta came out with our dinners, dry as well. He never received his chicken until we were completely finished eating our meals and after asking a few times. The server said the kitchen was backed up but we watched several other tables get food that ordered after us. I get things happen. I expected that a manager would be stopping by to apologize and offer something. Not so much. The people at the table next to us overheard us talking about it and told our waiter that they at least give our son a free dessert. Which they did. Seems like there is a disconnect somewhere.
