This is Greece.

Bar Vlaha tells the story of the Vlach people, the founders of hospitality and Greek cooking. A nomadic group of shepherds who created and nurtured the roots of Hellenic cooking as we know it. Straying from the tried-and-true island cuisine, we're rediscovering Greek fare sourced from rural mountains, lakes and villages of Central and Northern Greece.

Bar Vlaha captures the true soul of Greek cooking with rustic and nomadic traditions using charcoal and open fire gastra techniques. Locally sourced, regional and seasonal ingredients are combined with the warmth of old-world hospitality to bring the roots of Greek culture to Brookline.

    Outstanding menu. Best restaurant chicken my wife and I have ever eaten. The bread and spreads are phenomenal. Points off for excessive noise level, which can easily be mitigated if management wishes to perfect the dining experience.

    Absolutely wow’d by my dinner experience at Bar Vlaha. Food, service, atmosphere was all knocked out of the park. Just go and love it for yourself.

    Dined with a group of old friends for a much-needed get together and had a fantastic experience! Our server Jorge was excellent and set the tone for a great evening. He was attentive, explained the menu really well and was just a fantastic young man overall! Beautiful and amazingly delicious food, great ambience, and stellar hospitality. This was one of the best dining experiences we have had post-Covid and although many restaurants are still struggling with staffing shortages, etc., you are 100% nailing it! Thanks for a wonderful night!

    We really enjoyed our dinner in the Vlaha bar! The food was really well cooked and delicious, the cocktails were pretty tasty and the desserts were absolutely fantastic! We are definitely visiting again!

    We sat at the bar. Bartender was pleasant, knowledgeable, and creative. He seemed spread too thin to provide excellent service. Our food selections were good, but mostly not great. The Saginaki was burned, the spread was good, walnut fritters were tasty, and the pita/pie of the day (lemon chicken) was subpar. The desserts were very tasty. All in all a good meal, but not up to the standard we'd hoped for.

    Our dinners were excellent--uniquely prepared and delicious--but the vibe of the restaurant left a lot to be desired. It was a Saturday night, and the restaurant was quiet and low-key, which would have been fine if the restaurant attempted a more semi-elegant experience. Instead, the wine was served in clunky water glasses . . . , perhaps an attempt at a taverna experience, but to us it was a buzz kill.

    From the beginning, super attentive with my reservation! Amazing drinks, the food is impeccable! I will definitely come back because I want to try other items on the menu!
