For over 100 years Bettys has been devoted to lifting spirits with life’s little pleasures; handmade cakes, unique freshly baked products, beautiful Café Tea Rooms, rare and exclusive coffees and teas and continental-inspired menus.
There are five Bettys Café Tea Rooms in Yorkshire, each with its own shop where you can walk in and enjoy breakfast, lunch and an afternoon treat.

Bettys is famous for afternoon tea, and if you want to experience the finest we offer, you can book a table for our Belmont Room in York or our Imperial Room in Harrogate. You'll be serenaded by our pianist as you enjoy a selection of savouries, indulgent sandwiches, specially selected teas and irresistible dainty cakes and scones.
Join us for evening dining Thursday to Saturday, where we bring together elegant surroundings, a refined food and drinks menu. Also, for that extra dash of after-hours elegance, a pianist performs live classical covers of popular contemporary music.

    You'll be serenaded by our pianist as you enjoy a lavish selection of dainty savouries, sandwiches, specially selected teas and irresistible miniature cakes and scones. Please note: For any dietary requests (e.g. vegetarian, vegan, children) please use the 'Special requests' box during the booking process. For any allergies or intolerances please call 0800 456 1919. Set menu: A selection of savouries, Sandwiches; Egg mayonnaise with crispy onion on a milk roll, Salami and mozzarella on tomato bread and Flaked salmon, horseradish, celery and caper on malted grain. Patisserie; Salted Caramel and Chocolate Rose, Passionfruit and Raspberry slice and a Strawberry and Almond macaroon.

    From the moment we arrived to the second we left, everything and everyone was amazing. Food and drinks excellent. Cannot praise highly enough. Thought Betty's downstairs was good, but this experience was pure class. Staff have the perfect level of service and the piano in the background really sets the tone. Not rushed at all. Would highly recommend as the perfect treat. 🥰 plus replenished tea and sandwiches to suit all dietary requirements. Amazingggg. Thank yiu Betty's.

    Lovely overall experience. Our server Ella was so welcoming, polite and on the ball. Food was dainty and very tasty. The Pianist was a lovely touch but rather loud at times. Would visit again.

    Have been a regular at Betty's at both their Harrogate and Harlow Carr team rooms and especially the evening dining experience, so it was great to see this revived recently having not been available since the pandemic. This was our first visit to the York tea rooms and the setting is fantastic period 1930s. As always, the politeness and attentiveness of the staff was consistently first class and the food was delicious. Overall we spent over 2 hours over 3 courses and, whilst some may consider the service slow, it was very nicely paced and good not to be rushed. I could have stayed all evening! Will be returning in the near future, particularly with the ability to book a reservation and skip the usual queue.

    An enjoyable afternoon. Had to ask staff more than once for water on the table, also pepper, which should have been on the table without having to ask. Do not think this is value for money for what we had, although we should have asked for more when asked, so our fault on that.

    I booked the Prosecco Afternoon Tea at Bettys for my friend’s 30th birthday. I clearly stated the occasion in the online booking form and noted I was happy to pay for a birthday cake or gesture. We travelled a long way for this and were excited to celebrate in a special setting. The room was beautiful and the food was excellent. The cakes were delicate, the scones were fresh, and the tea was lovely. However, the service did not reflect the quality of the surroundings or the price point. We were booked for 2pm but didn’t receive any drinks until after 2:45pm. Despite booking the Prosecco option, the prosecco never came. Our waitress didn’t seem to have read our booking notes and we had to call her over multiple times just to be served. Throughout our two-hour sitting, we watched other tables receive thoughtful birthday moments. Some guests were presented with small cakes and cheerful birthday songs. At one point, several cakes appeared with music, and I even started filming, thinking it was for my friend. It was awkward to realise it wasn’t. After waiting and realising nothing was going to happen, I quietly spoke to a staff member to say my friend’s birthday had been noted in our booking. A different waitress appeared later with a plain cake and said, without much warmth, “I hope there’s a birthday here.” This was disappointing and felt like an afterthought, especially compared to what others received. Soon after, another guest received a beautifully presented cake, warm service and a cheerful birthday song. This contrast made it even clearer that my friend had not received the same treatment, despite my clear communication. For a milestone birthday, I expected much better. We still enjoyed the food and tried to make the most of it, but I left feeling disappointed and let down. For the price and reputation, Bettys did not deliver the service or care we hoped for on such a special day

    Best afternoon tea we’ve ever had. Very friendly service and attentive. Great ambience in art deco style and appropriate background live piano music.
