Bettys is famous for afternoon tea, and if you want to experience the finest we offer, book your table in the Belmont Room, York. This beautiful, historic room - located on the first floor of our York tea room - is steeped in history and provides the perfect setting for our most exquisite afternoon tea. You'll be serenaded by our pianist as you enjoy a selection of savouries, indulgent sandwiches, specially selected teas and irresistible dainty cakes and scones.     Exceptional service from Eva during the festive afternoon tea. Would highly recommend when visiting York.

    We have been to the Bettys tea rooms many times in different locations, however service was very poor. Took 35 mins to get some more drinks and waited 45 mins for another sandwich, had to call manager in end who was very helpful. Just lack of communication when server going for a break, and lack of follow up with guests and attentive service.

    Some of the sandwich flavours wasn't the best and the chocolate fancy was far to chocolatey The service wasn't the best we kept having to go and ask for a top up when last time they came to us quite regularly, brought us the wrong drink but we didn't get charged for it which was good It was definitely better last time we came

    Our Christmas Afternoon Tea was excellent as usual the food was lovely and the service second to none.

    We all enjoyed the Christmas afternoon tea very much, it has become a Christmas tradition with our family and will be in the years to come.

    We were overwhelmed with the whole experience last year we decided to come again this year. We were so disappointed this year. 1) the portion size now even smaller 2) sandwiches not high standard as we would have expected- ham thick cheese and relish- too thick, egg mayonnaise in a roll could not taste the egg at all, the chicken with bacon again too large not dainty as an afternoon tea should be. 3) quiche too small 4) the cream cheese and smoked salmon- where was the smoked salmon - could not find it too small 5)tiny cakes- far too small 6) staff too cardboard hence no ambience. 7) restaurant manger never offered to hang our coats 8) far to expensive for the quality of food

    The festive afternoon tea was delicious, however we also ordered a bottle of champagne so this was not a cheap experience. We were more or less brought the bill & rushed to finish our meal, which we felt was rude. Upon leaving the upstairs tea rooms we found that there were lots of empty tables downstairs where they could have asked us to move to, to finish our champagne, instead of hovering over us upstairs & making us feel uncomfortable.

    We had a lovely afternoon tea and enjoyed the beautiful music played by the pianist. It was the perfect experience to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. Ella was our server and she was absolutely wonderful. We will definitely be back!

    The festive afternoon tea in the Belmont room was perfect, the atmosphere, the staff, the live pianist was just perfect. Our waitress was a lovely lady, couldn’t be anymore helpful. Me and my friend haven’t a bad word to say. we will definitely be retuning next Christmas time and this is now our new Christmas tradition. Perfect

    Absolutely fabulous festive afternoon tea. Fantastic service from Andrea and supported by Clare while Andrea was on a break. Fabulous tunes played by Joshua on the piano
