Bistro Casanova is smooth, elegant, exquisite and fun. A tropical landscaping refreshes the air surrounding the outside al fresco tables. Bistro Casanova offers Mediterranean fare, its roots coming from the Cinque Terre in Italy where the owner comes from. Its menu reaches some classic of the European cuisine: Paella for two, Cioppino, Focaccias, Grigliata plates of grilled meat or fish large enough to share, prime cuts of steaks are between the favorites, next to an excellent selection of pastas and fresh salads. Locally grown ingredients are used extensively, as well as the freshest fish from Maui's ocean. Bistro Casanova is a favorite for Happy Hour relaxation, watered by specialty martinis and carafes of mojito and margaritas.
Tapas (available after 4pm) can be a tasty complement to your drinks, an opening line for your dinner, or dinner itself. At dinner, Bistro Casanova is a romantic destination for meals before a show or the perfect stop before flying out of Maui.

La comida tiene un sabor a aceite re cocinado, el pan mejor no lo comento porque fue lo peor que he probado. El servicio fue excelente pero la cocina es mala y el costo alto para lo que ofrecen. Mi recomendación es que no vayan, hay muchas mejores opciones con los mismos precios.

As long-time regular customers of Bistro Casanova, we can say without qualification that this restaurant never fails to deliver a highest-quality and delightful experience—one we always look forward to. Owner Giovanni Steven Cappelli is a true restaurateur—it's in his blood and it shows! The menu is varied with taste choices that appeal to a wide range of palates. My husband loves the upcountry salad with shrimp, the kaupo salad, and his all-time fav—the wonderful angel hair pasta served piping hot with an authentic blend of delicious flavors. The staff are genuinely warm and friendly, sending us smiles and greetings as we arrive, remembering our menu preferences, and serving with cheerful attention. We appreciate them all, including Chanelle and Betty who are consistently gracious and efficient. Giovanni has somehow managed to keep the food quality top-notch and the prices reasonable—a rare achievement on Maui. This mahalo is long overdue—we love you guys at Bistro Casanova!

Food is good,the table beside us was very loud,we couldn’t hear each other anymore,ambiance is ok,their light was a little dark,hard to see their menu

Broad View: The food is the saving grace of Bistro Casanova. If your are looking for a special experience (anniversary, valentines, etc.) then I would look elsewhere. However, if you looking for a nice date with some great food, this is the place to go. Food: DELICIOUS and big portions! I had the Paelle (saffron rice tossed with mussels, clams, scallops, chicken and sausage) and my girlfriend had a Mauka (new your strip steak, lamb chops, chicken, sausage). Both options were spectacular. Ambiance: Nothing awful but definitely not spectacular in any way. A classic Italian restaurant feel. The major downfall is the location, located in the heart of Kahului and near industrial Wailuku don’t expect any romantic walks afterwards. Service: Our server was nice and attentive however there was a a slight air of unprofessionalism throughout the service team. Nothing bad for an average date night but not the team I want attending to me during a special night.

Thank you for taking the time to share your appreciation for our DELICIOUS food and our big portions. We love that you called our offerings "spectacular". We are well aware to be located in a commercial area of Maui. Since 15 years we are catering mainly to Maui residents and they are very happy to find such great food close to their homes and places of work. No romantic walk on the beach after a dinner with us, but very convenient before or after your flight in or out of Maui.

I really wanted to love this place as I've enjoyed Casanova's in Makawao (no longer affiliated) for decades. The location isn't ideal, but I've learned that ambiance isn't everything. However, the service was unfortunately a significant detractor. I understand staffing is incredibly challenging right now, and I've been there myself, running my own restaurant. It was Valentine's Day and a Friday, but the restaurant wasn't overly busy, and the regular menu was being served. Our server's style was...unusual. A strange combination of hyper-formality and rushed inefficiency. While he moved quickly, he only focused on one table at a time, leading to long waits. His overly enunciated, theatrical delivery felt performative, yet his actual service was lacking. Getting menus took ten minutes, and we had to flag him down twice to order drinks (he began walking away after I ordered mine and never even glanced at my husband). My negroni, delivered by a random runner, was unfortunately not good (erm, possibly even worst ever), and it after another several minutes I gave up and went to the bar myself. We ordered appetizers and mains together, anticipating another wait. While our waiter did check in, he didn't really listen. Dessert menus weren't offered; he seemed surprised we even wanted them. The food itself was okay, but not outstanding (for instance, the sauces offered with the seafood grill were better suited to other proteins so we stuck wit the drawn butter that came with the lobster). I suspect this restaurant might be better suited for business lunches or after-work drinks. It's just not the right vibe for a date or special occasion. I sincerely hope Giovanni (or whoever is managing the place for him) can address the service issues, as the potential is there.

Thank you so much for taking the time to express your concerns after visiting us on Valentine night. Your observation are important to me as they give me lots to work on. Your server, the only male on the FOH on Valentine night, is often highly appreciated and reviewed for his skills and personality. The high volume of business on Valentine night must have gotten him out of his game. Talking about that night, it was our record night for the year. I was worried, wondering if my team could have handled it smoothly. The majority of the reviews are 5 stars, so something must have gone right. Not in your case. What you describe is not acceptable and we will work on it so that it does not happen any longer. My apologies.
