   Dinner for two at The Blue Ball. Started with bread and olives - the bread was white sliced with no butter or oil/balsamic and the olives were plentiful but no toothpicks or similar provided to eat them with, so used fingers. One portion size would have been enough for two people. Main courses were very good - I had the ribeye steak, which was served on a wooden platter with French fries, salad, mushroom and onion rings - great flavour and very filling. Tuna Niçoise salad was also very tasty and again a good size main course. Overall very good value and a popular/busy venue so pre-booking is recommended.

   Ample parking. Made to feel very welcome. Accommodate the dogs with clean water bowls and treats. Food cooked and presented very well. Will definitely go again.

   We really enjoyed our Saturday night meal at this great country pub. We had a lovely table and the staff were excellent. The food was fantastic - we had risotto, a chicken burger and sea bass - all very good. It was so nice we booked in the next day for Sunday lunch, which we also enjoyed.

   We had our engagement meal here and it was lovely - the staff went above and beyond to give us a special experience and we were so grateful. Food delicious, great selection of specials and good prices. Thank you!! Robin & Leona

   Very disappointing visit, after 25+ years of visiting Visited the Blue Ball Inn for lunch today. As a family we’ve been making the journey from Hampshire to Exmoor multiple times a year for over a quarter of a century. After a lapse in our visits, we couldn’t have been more excited for lunch at our beloved Blue Ball today. How disappointed we were in the lack of atmosphere, warmth, diverse food offering and quality that we experienced today. We were seated in a cold and lonely corner of the empty restaurant area of the pub. Once seated, we eagerly awaited both a menu, perhaps advice on any specials and the opportunity to order a drink. We had to request all of the above and felt rather forgotten. When we eventually ordered, we could not have been sadder about the spoils. The sausage and mash was so disappointing- Cold mash, a super stingy serving of peas and awfully cheap sausages. The black garlic burger was missing any form of garlic. When we were asked if our meal ok, we stated it was subpar and our feedback was brushed over and ignored. We did not feel it was ok to progress our feedback further. This was 1pm - feel worried for anyone going later. Several items were also unavailable, no mustard, 2/3 specials off, no Tribute. We used to love this place but sadly it’s just not what it used to be. Hope it can get back to its glory days😢😢

   I was busy but unfortunately our roast dinner was missing parsnips, and stuffing. We had not realised until we finished and when we saw other tables dinners come out. It also took 30mins for the puddings to be served. I understand it was busy but this was a poor quality service.

   I have eaten here many times before and always been happy to give a glowing review. Today was rather disappointing I'm afraid. The pub was freezing cold. The woodburner was lit as we arrived but didnt stay alight for long. It was so cold, my elderly relative was forced to sit under a blanket and we remained in coats. The lady who is always very friendly took our order promptly. An hour later we were still waiting and I had to ask what had happened to our order. The food arrived shortly after and was good. We had planned on dessert and coffee but the pub was simply too cold to stay any longer so we paid the bill and left.
