Here at The Blue Bell, we are the perfect retreat to sit back, relax and indulge in our delicious food with your favourite drink in hand. As a former coaching inn from the 1700's, the Blue Bell is steeped in original character and boasts the most beautiful beer garden overlooking the River Tees.

The Blue Bell has quickly become our favourite place to eat and today was no exception. We came at lunch time and the pub was packed, we got our drinks really quickly and our order was taken at our table. We waited 30 minutes for our food but you can tell it’s all freshly prepared so more than happy to wait for hot fresh food. I love a good Sunday lunch and today’s was one of the best I’ve had, roast beef dinner with perfectly cooked veg. All our meals were great, good portion sizes and really hot as they always are here. My daughter also has a gluten free option that she likes which is amazing off the main menu. Always a friendly welcome, Alison and the team are super friendly and helpful and even better that our dog is always welcome. This is a great place to eat, would totally recommend you give it a go.

Another lovely Sunday lunch at The Blue Bell, lovely food, and great service. 6 of us had the main course and dessert. The bill including drinks came to just under £200, not bad but we think the price of the desserts is a bit high at £11.90 although they are delicious. The hot drink and mini pud are brilliant value. Thanks to Alison and her team, we'll be back soon.

One of the party had a birthday and I mentioned in the booking. Not a thing was mentioned very disappointed. Also we complained one of the meals was awful in fact there was so much chilli on the wrap she couldn’t eat it. We did advise a staff member. No offer of an alternative or a goodwill offer. All in all it was a bit of a let down.

Disappointed that one group of customers were so loud we were unable to engage in a conversation on our table. Food was tasty but unfortunately frozen chips were used.

May have been a sunny busy day but needs more staff, staff working hard but demand was to hi, if dinning had been busy it would be overun

We visited The Blue Bell for a Birthday celebration, our 2nd visit since being refurbished and change of ownership, and as usual we had a good welcome and excellent service from the staff on duty. The meals were excellent ( although my eyes are bigger than my belly when ordering the Parmo, it was very large 😀) the rest of our party enjoyed their choices too👍 Will be back soon as there is plenty more on the menu we would like to try but next time we will be continuing with a walk by the river ( weather permitting)

The Blue bell dirty burger was delicious, daughter had thr children's burger and loved the skin on fries. Service was amazing and very friendly. Very clean and the ambience child friendly. Would definitely recommend

We had to move table as there was a large children’s birthday meal. Kids running all over very dangerous and very off putting we couldn’t hear ourselves speak It won’t put us off coming again though but staff need to ask parents to restrain their children
