BLUE MOON BISTRO of Beaufort, NC; Casual fine dining experience with superb service team, a creative and well-stocked bar, & TWO chefs sharing in our culinary leadership of French/American cuisine.

CHEF JAYSON FOSTER graduate of CCCCP; Culinary Arts student who studied in France under two-starred Michelin Chef Marc Meurin. A stalwart on the Beaufort Food Scene, Jayson has cooked at Chef’s 105, Circa 81, and at Aqua, where he was the Chef for 10 years. In 2012, Jayson and team won the Fire on the Docks Competition in Wilmington, NC.

CHEF JOSH MACKLIN, Honors graduate of CCCCP, Josh ALSO went to France to study with two-starred Michelin Chef Marc Meurin. Josh joined Floyd’s 1921 as banquet chef. He has worked at Circa 81 as Chef/Restaurant Manager for 10 years. He then joined the Oysters and Pearls group, opening Catch 109 and Executive Chef for Table 9. Josh loves how food brings together families and friends. He is a proud believer of food being a bond we all share.

    Every visit to this gem is a delight. The freshest ingredients, perfectly prepared, with beautiful complexity and outstanding flavors. The service is impeccable, attentive, welcoming, and always going the extra mile. The ambiance completes the experience, making every meal truly special.

    My fiancé and I went out for dinner after I booked us the reservations online. The reservation didn’t mention that there was a Valentine’s Day prefix menu so we were pretty shocked by that and the price point but the food was delicious. We got each option on the prefix. I had the cauliflower bisque, fennel salad, and seafood plate. The bisque was rich and creamy without being over started. The fennel salad was good with some surprising flavors that really wow’d me but due to my own error I couldn’t eat much of it, I forgot to ask for no onions due to an allergy. The seafood plate was INCREDIBLE. Tender fish with a delicious crust accompanied by some type of little ravioli that was to die for. The set dessert was similar to a fudge brownie but was a bit underwhelming flavor wise. My fiancé had the beef consommé which he enjoyed throughly, the caesar salad, and the lamb. While the caesar salad was good, it didn’t stand out. He said the lamb was cooked to the perfect temperature but would have liked more seasoning to develop a more complex flavor profile. Overall the food was very good. The pacing for the pre fix menu was a little slow, even with the understanding multi course menus allow for digestion time but our server ya hannah was very sweet. We also had the special cocktails: a blood orange gin, house raspberry simple syrup, topped with club soda. The drink was perfectly balanced between letting the fruit flavors shine while keeping it from being too sweet with the gin and club soda cutting in a bit. I would definitely dine in again but would have appreciated more transparency about the prefix menu when booking the reservation.

    Each visit to Beaufort includes dining at the Blue Moon Bistro. No ifs or buts! Our dinner last night was as usual outstanding! From the appetizers to deserts, everything absolutely delicious.     We always have a fun time at Blue Moon and last night was no exception. A lively place with an evolving menu with great specials, we are so happy to have Blue Moon in our neighborhood!

    My wife and I dined at Blue Moon for the first time recently. We love every aspect of it. It has the ambience of an upscale pub - cozy and inviting, lots of wood, well-spaced tables and an intimate, well-stocked bar. Service was friendly, helpful and professional. Our food (shrimp etouffe and scallops, with Brussels sprouts to start) was excellent! We greatly look forward to returning.
