At Bobbie's it's all about mid-century furnishings, plush velvet, great music, world-class cocktails and bar food curated by Neil Perry.

In partnership with Linden Pride of the renowned Dante, New York, Bobbie’s has the underground energy of a New York style cocktail bar with the refined, sophisticated flair of a Neil Perry institution. It’s about keeping things in the family: when Linden was 17, he was polishing glasses at Neil’s Rockpool restaurant. In a full-circle moment, they’ve come together to showcase their passion for produce-driven experiences.

Located in the basement of 24 Bay St, Double Bay, the same Neville Gruzman-designed heritage building as Neil’s Song Bird restaurant, Bobbie’s was named after Linden’s grandfather, the legendary radio broadcaster Bob Rogers, who mingled with the likes of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones in their heyday.

We didn’t eat at Bobbie’s… but offering some small nibbles (very European) is a very nice idea. Bars where everyone has to sit, loses atmosphere. No fun atmosphere. Slow service.

Seriously good cocktails and an ambience that can’t be found anywhere else. The chocolate old fashioned and espresso martini are unequivocally perfect. Loved it.

Very disappointed with our experience here. Having lived in NYC and London, this is equivalent to an average bar in either city at best. For a supposedly fully stocked bar not to be able to make a standard cocktail (Bloody Mary) is frankly embarrassing. Service was also average. You’d do better to go elsewhere for a drink.

We visited Bobbie’s after we finished dinner at Margaret. And we saw chef Perry in the house again - we’re joking he is so busy hopping around. We only stayed for an hour. But from our short visit a few improvements we spotted compared to the other bars we visited in the city. Firstly air ventilation - during the first half hour of our visit we felt it’s quite warm and insufficient air conditioning. Secondly sound speaker - my partner is sitting right next to the speakers and it’s a bit too loud for her. Having said that the drinks are pretty good and pricing is reasonable.

Best martini we've ever had, and all the other cocktails and food were excellent. Great vibe earlier in the night. Very good all round but very expensive

There was an overwhelming smell of old fish or anchovy oil around our table back far corner. We had a lovely table but the smell was difficult to ignore. The menu had tasty morsels but very over priced. Probably the best dirty martini I’ve ever had. I’d go back just for that.

Cool vibe, awesome cocktails and great snacks to pair with the drinks. Nice place to hang before or after dinner, or as we did - just a light dinner night out with a few drinks. My hubby and I were on a sneaky date night out. Will definitely return, and next time with some friends. Overall enjoyable night out.

Yes, it’s very cool venue. But too noisy, impossible to talk with or hear the person across the table from me. At $35 for a cocktail, drinks way overpriced. That was my Bobbie’s experience. Done it, no need to go back.
