Bouvardia recently came onto my radar and as an absolute foodie, I knew I needed to try it.
Situated inside the Bathen house hotel, this intimate restaurant hosts 10 tables at one time, making it one of Bath’s most exclusive dining rooms.
We opted for a glass of the house wine which honestly tasted like a much higher end wine than most house glasses. To start, we had the sourdough and honey butter which was amazing.
Onto the starters I had a beef and mozzarella ravioli which had some little shallot rings on top which were an unusual garnish for pasta, but it worked really well! My husband had duck with a blue cheese cream which he loved.
We both had venison for a main which was coated in a hazelnut crumb. I can not tell you how happy this meal made me. Do you ever eat a meal and you just know it’s something you’re going to spend years thinking about? Well that’s what this venison will be to me. So perfectly cooked with the most imaginative flavours. You can tell I’m passionate about it haha. We shared some roast heritage carrots and parsnips and dauphinoise on the side which made up a very winter comfort meal.
For dessert we both ordered the chocolate fondant which was the most home made fondant I’ve probably ever had out (in the best kind of way) and it was served with a chocolate crumb and ice cream. Once again, just delicious.
On top of some really incredible food, the staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating.
I’d really recommend this place if you’re looking for a special evening.
