Candela Cucina is an upscale Italian restaurant from Servedwell Hospitality in the historic Candleworks building. Candela Cucina is not just another Italian American restaurant, Candela is an authentic Italian restaurant. Candela’s menu ranges from classic Italian dishes to innovative contemporary creations, all crafted with the finest ingredients.

This new concept from Servedwell Hospitality is in partnership with Peter Biondi. Pete has opened other Servedwell concepts and has worked at several NYC Michelin-starred restaurants. The menu is crafted and overseen by Chef Josh Riazi. Josh has been overseeing all Servedwell’s culinary development and operations since 2018. Josh has worked in several highly acclaimed restaurants; most notably, Josh was Executive Chef at Al Forno in Providence, RI. Josh is assisted by Chef Joe Melo, a Servedwell alum, who will oversee daily culinary operations at Candela.

We started with drinks. While it was national espresso martini day, it seems my martini may have been pre- made and the pour was skimpy. My wine was delicious as was my main meal. We shared the Italian chopped salad which was very heavy on the vinegar and black pepper. Our server was “ok” but not as good as the last time we were there and had Amanda. She was outstanding. Salmon with pesto is fantastic and tasty. Healthy option with a lot of flavor.

The best Italian food we've had in a long time. All dishes were excellent, cooked perfectly with superb and creative quality. Service was excellent - friendly and helpful. We had our two year old grandson with us and he was treated with as much respect and kindness as the adults. We will definitely come back and hope for a long relationship with Candela Cucina.

The whipped ricotta was AMAZING. Our entrees were somewhat average for Italian cuisine. However, the desserts we ordered were fabulous. Tiramisu and pistachio ice cream. The best!

Molto bene. From the moment we walked in the gentleman who attended us, perhaps a manager, was charming and seated us & inquired if the table was to our liking. We sat in the sun room, our favorite spot, and the renovations and updates are a great improvement. Alexis was our server and she was very classy, knowledgeable of the menu & the wine list, and attentive. The wine list was exceptional, we enjoyed a bottle of Nebbiolo and the bread we were served was so fresh and unique, our server even offered a gluten free bread option and I gave it a try, again it was delightful in presentation & taste, very fluffy & warm. Our meal was outstanding, our party had a braised rib ravioli special, a wild boar special and a chicken parm (& it was prepared gluten free) Our party indulged in an Affogoto with amerretto, a pannetone bread pudding, & a glass of Remy. It is a place we will frequent often as the food, service, and atmosphere are a refreshing slice of Italy to enjoy without the drive to Boston, Providence, or a flight to Rome. grazie Mille per un pasto delizioso .

We always have a very good time there, but we recommend that when the beef carpaccio is served it is served on a colder plate.

Very nice experience after the reboot of this restaurant….the meals were delicious as my chicken parm was the best I’ve had in the area. The lasagna were well made and quite flavorful also.

Steve and his team have done it again! Just across the street from the Black Whale, Candela Cucina has arrived, bringing an upscale Italian dining experience to the neighborhood. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a beautifully designed space, warm and welcoming staff, and an inviting ambience that makes you want to settle in for a long, leisurely meal. The menu does not disappoint—starting with the standout meatball appetizer served over creamy polenta, an absolute must-try. Candela Cucina is a charming addition to the area, and you truly have to experience it for yourself! News flash: we enjoyed the Portofino salad, which was delicious and Brittany, our server, was outstanding, what a nice way to enjoy an afternoon in a beautiful setting!
