I have never had a bad experience at Char until last night. I have dietary allergies and restrictions and cannot have butter, oil or sugar. There was a huge disconnect between the messaging from the server to the cook staff, in that my steamed/blanched brussels sprouts were served coated in oil. The cook staff knew they were marinated in oil, and knew I had an allergy, but still sent them out. My salmon which I requested very well done with a golden top came out just the opposite. Although I was given the opportunity to select a different meal, I did not want my dining companions to wait on me and hence let their food be at room temperature. Very disappointing, and probably will not return unless my request for a specific server is granted…and I do understand that Char cannot always grant that.

Excellent service. It just gets too loud for a conversation sometimes. Food was typically amazing. Wish there was something to absorb some of the live noise.

Excellent food and service. Only reason ambience was docked was because the window seats were freezing cold at this time of year… but I am sure it is fine at other times.

All was good except the NOISE!! One table of 10 women were extremely loud and disruptive of the entire restaurant, maybe too much alcohol. Management should have intervened!

A very nice place for special occasion. The ambiance is very nice and elegant. The gentleman playing the piano sets a great atmosphere. The food is excellent, and the customer service is outstanding. Take time to visit this restaurant. Dress to impress and enjoy.

Well, we walked in at 1:20 PM without a reservation and the restaurant would not seat us. So we sat down in the bar and made a reservation through the Open Table app at 1:30 and just waited. Would they really have preferred we walked out and chose to eat elsewhere? It was a bit ridiculous and completely unnecessary. Now once we sat down our server Laura was amazing. She turned the day around for us and we had a lovely meal in a somewhat empty dining room.

My wife's Birthday Dinner met all expectations. Evan and Staff gave excellent service. We will come again. Huntsville needed a top-level restaurant like Char. Thank You for a lovely evening.
