Chessie’s Restaurant provides a relaxing atmosphere with an award winning
menu. Three uniquely different dining areas can be found within the
restaurant. The heart of the restaurant is a beautiful dining room with a full
bar with a warm “Pub” atmosphere that was once Barrington’s original railroad
station. Our authentic 1920’s Illinois train car offers a unique dining
experience; you will feel like you are traveling across the country while
dining! The Atrium dining area is open and airy with high ceilings and perfect
for any size group. Our versatile banquet rooms are available for receptions,
clubs, business meetings and private parties.

Although our reservation was accepted through Open Table, Chessie's no longer works with Open Table. They did not have our reservation. This was very disappointing and unacceptable. This needs to be corrected immediately.

Our first time here, celebrated our 30th anniversary. They had a nice seat in the train car room reserved for us. They did not acknowledge our anniversary, which was a bit of a disappointment. Our waitress was super attentive for the first 10 minutes then disappeared for the next twenty. So we waited 30 minutes to put our order in. My wife enjoyed the ribs and I had the tilapia, which was quite meaty. The cream sauce however was quite heavy and drenched the fish, defeating the purpose of trying to eat health. The chocolate tower dessert was very good. Prices were quite reasonable.

Enjoyed a night with friend for casual dining. half slab ribs were reasonabley priced but only fair - not very meaty or tender.

This restaurant is no longer using your Open Table App. We found that out the hard way. Your App said we were confirmed for our reservation. Once we arrived they told us they have notified you they are longer using your app. We were denied a table due to how busy they were. They state they should have been taken off the app a long time ago to avoid this happening.

We love Chessies. It's so unique and special. The building is the actual Barrington train depot that they moved in the 1970's to this location . You have a choice of sitting in the pub-style bar area which is very cozy and has great atmosphere. Or you can sit in the dining car which is a genuine train car, with white tablecloths and looks just like the dining cars of years ago.....great atmosphere as well. The bar area is more casual than the dining car, and both are very cool. I would say, though, that kids would do better for lunch than dinner. They can see the Metra trains go by. The food is very good, and their hamburgers are outstanding! At Christmas, they decorate beautifully. It's just a wonderful hidden gem that we are lucky to have in Barrington.

Guess we were lucky to have an open table in the train car when we arrived for our 41st annuversary dinner and learned that Open Table no longer serves or is used by Chessie's

We had a large group and needed handicapped access and we were seated in the atrium and 2 connected round tables which made it easy to talk and move around with kids and grandparents and not bother other diners. Food was great an a good variety for our group and the servers were very attentive to our group.

We have been going to Chessie's for awhile and service and atomsphere have always been very good. The food has varied from very good to average. On our last visit the food was subpar and that was disappointing for the experience. We sent one of the two meals back, because it was done so poorly. The restaurant made it right by not charging us for the meal, but I hope on our return this will not happen again.

When we arrived, having made a reservation on Open Table, they told us they are no longer on Open Table, but haven't been able to get OT to remove them. Luckily they were able to seat our large party anyway.
