Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Staunton VA, The Chop House Tavern elegantly showcases a refined take on Chef Ryan Zale's culinary creativity. Professionally executed by Sous Chef Brendan Almy, guests can expect the signature proteins and menu staples found on our sibling restaurants menus, (Local Chop and Grill House, Harrisonburg VA, and The Chop House Bistro, Luray VA) as well as delicious takes on comfort tavern food classics. We were visiting the Charlottesville area and chose the Chop House to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our 20th anniversary. We were given complimentary glasses of Prosecco when we arrived and my husband got a house dessert for his birthday! The experience was romantic and moody, with a Speakeasy vibe. We gave the food a 4 as my salmon was undercooked for my taste. Otherwise, a great place to enjoy a memorable occasion!

Having eaten here more than a half-dozen times what is notable how consistently excellent the food and service is. Time and time again we are delighted with our experience and look forward to returning often.

This is our favorite “high end” restaurant in Staunton. It’s cozy, and both the food and service are great!

This was our first time in Staunton- just here for one night before dropping the kids at camp- and we stumbled upon this absolute gem of a restaurant right in historic downtown. The restaurant itself was so much cuter than the pictures on OpenTable. We had amazing service from the host and the waitress. The focaccia bread and honey butter was the perfect introduction, followed by delicious seasonal salads- the kids got the chili, which we sampled and was also delicious. Steaks were perfectly cooked, great martinis to accompany. Everything was beyond expectations for such a small town. Highly recommend.
