Located in the heart of beautiful downtown Staunton VA, The Chop House Tavern elegantly showcases a refined take on Chef Ryan Zale's culinary creativity. Professionally executed by Sous Chef Brendan Almy, guests can expect the signature proteins and menu staples found on our sibling restaurants menus, (Local Chop and Grill House, Harrisonburg VA, and The Chop House Bistro, Luray VA) as well as delicious takes on comfort tavern food classics. This restaurant was small and intimate & The food very excellent! We got the fillet, which came with a side of homemade sauces which neither of us use. The steak had great flavor without it! waitress was so nice and attentive. We happened across it because we live 2 hours away but we will definitely be visiting the cute little Town and we will revisit the chop house!

The service was great and food was good. My one complaint was that when I was told about a special appetizer, I was not warned of the price. I could have got 4 appetizers for the cost of one which was more than any entree on the menu.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal. Everything cook perfectly. Drinks exactly as ordered. Relaxed - not rushed at all.

The overall experience was lovely. The food was absolutely delicious and to die for. The atmosphere elegant in a nice old building. The reason for less than 5 star was the service. The waitress greeted us immediately upon arrival. She said she’d be back to take our drink orders in a minute. THIRTY MINUTES later and no one had checked on us nor taken our drink orders. Checking with the bar tender, he was quickly on our order bringing drinks immediately (although the order was incorrect). After, the manager came out comped the drinks and appetizer. Then bar tender took over service and did an amazing job. Still, it remains concerning that we were able to sit for 30 minutes with no attention from any of the staff. However, we will definitely give them another chance.

We had an excellent time dining at the Chop House Tavern. The server gave us perfect selection ideas, setting was lovely, and the meal was outstanding.

Food and service were fantastic. Although a busy weekend with graduations in the area we were not rushed.
