Having spent years supplying London’s top restaurants through their separate wine businesses, Joe Haynes and Benedict Butterworth have joined forces with Tom Hurst, who has worked at Brawn, The Marksman, Levan, and most recently as Head Chef at Lasdun, to launch the trio’s first restaurant together.

Located in a Grade II listed building on Cloth Fair, Cloth Restaurant is part of a historic row of buildings in the City of London that survived the Great Fire of 1666. Down this atmospheric alley opposite St Bartholomew church, Cloth is taking over a double fronted corner site that’s beneath the former home of poet John Betjeman and next door to the two oldest residential buildings in London.

Inside, low ceilings, wood floorboards with antique wall lights and artwork create a cosy, intimate atmosphere, while marble tables, long dark wood banquettes, antique crockery and cutlery will create the feel of a classic bistro.

Lovely! Truly beautiful, if tight, space. Both the bartender and the waiter got our orders wrong, bit we had a lovely time.

The worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Extremely arrogant staff. Very high prices and very very poor customer service.

What a gem of a restaurant. Tucked away, simple but warm decor, amazing food and super friendly staff. Will most definitely come back.

Went for the set menu. I have to say, it was really poor value and ingredients only OK given the price (even for a set menu). To finish with a sorbet kind of summed it up.....cheap and easy to produce. Service was all over the top and (in spite of being loads of under-35's running the shift) was almost 'old school' dining.....too stuffy, formal...almost a bit sneery. So, we didn't particularly enjoy the food nor the service. In a similar market is Noble Rot (the one on Greek St in Soho, anyway) which does the opposite of Cloth for a set menu.....decent food offering with friendly, chilled service. Apols for being so scathing about Cloth. We love our food and love dining out but would we go again to Cloth, I'm afraid not

Just outstanding today. Fabulous interesting but mot weird food, great vibe and decor, lovely service, nice buzz. Loved it, just want to go straight back.

Amazing ambiance and great service. Food was nice but not outstanding. Had the beef shin ravioli with the beef fat crumb, that actually tasted like scraps from the fish and chip shop which overpowered the taste of the beef shin. Fantastic wine list.

INSANELY good across the board. The service was so considered and warm, with fantastic recommendations. The food was divine. Wine was glorious. Highly recommend.
