In 1935, a post-Prohibition tavern named Colony Grill opened in an Irish immigrant neighborhood in Stamford, Connecticut.

Across the decades, Colony has become famous for what is now its only menu offering: a one-of-a-kind, thin-crust pizza that is best served with the signature "hot oil" topping.

Colony’s famous "bar pies” are extremely thin crust, smaller in diameter than a traditional pizza, and not too much cheese or sauce so that slices can be easily managed with one hand, fittingly leaving the other hand free to hold a glass.

Today, Colony Grill has multiple "grill-less" locations across Connecticut, New York, Virginia, Maryland, and Florida.

- Colony Grill in St Petersburg is located in downtown St Petersburg, on the corner of Central Ave and 7th Street. Colony Grill offers carry out and delivery, as well as indoor & outdoor space for events up to 100 guests.

    Well, the place is nice. Weather was great so we sat outside. Nice street action, but the trees dropped small black specs on the table, drinks and us. Then it started to rain so we moved inside to a nice large booth for 6 just as our food arrived. Since we were sharing pizzas, we asked for plates. The only plates they have are 6 inch paper plates, not nearly large enough for a slice of pizza. They must expect that you are going to eat it all by hand. But that especially does not work for the salad pizza we ordered. Don't get me wrong, that salad pizza is very good, but it's unreasonable to think that it can be eaten by hand. As for their pizzas in general, 12 inch very thin crust, no puffy edge crust. And drinks like a negroni or old fashion are served in glasses half the size they should be. Negroni was good, but too small. Waitress was very nice, best part of our visit.
