In the late 1800’s, Royal Street was home to a famous “curio” shop, a place where curiosities from all over the world could be had for a dollar or two. Today, the shop is no more, but the feeling of excitement and wonder still exists on Royal Street today. And so in the heart of the most premier art district in New Orleans, we’re bringing back the curiosity – reintroducing New Orleans to a circus of flavor so vibrant it makes other restaurants nearby pale in comparison.

    Our experience at Curio was disappointing. The food was mediocre, especially considering two nights earlier we had a wonderful experience at Gallatoire's for exactly the same price. The first course was tasty, but slow to come out, and the kitchen pacing was atrocious; they brought out the salad course at exactly the same as the appetizer course, so the salad had to sit and get warm and the croutons soggy. Then when the crawfish pasta came out it had very little crawfish in it. This was the same as my experience with Curio in the past...they seem to have an issue with putting a decent amount of protein in their main dishes. Dessert was okay, but again we experienced a large delay between finishing out main course and having our dessert served. We ended up sending back our first wine choice because of the taste. It was recommended by our server, but was a pinot noir (Meioni) that was almost as sweet as a dessert wine, not good with dinner. When she brought it out, even though I mentioned we wanted to taste it first, she went ahead and poured full pours for us both and then said, "I hope you like it" as she left before we had a chance to try it. As I said earlier, it was far too sweet, and we had to send it back. Perhaps the young lady lacks experience with serving wines in a fine dining scenario. To her credit she did get it removed from our bill with no further controversy. Overall Curio was a disappointing experience with an over $200 bill. And I must ask, what is this I've been seeing just in New Orleans restaurants about adding an extra charge to the bill for using a credit card? Who carries that much cash around? This is a thing I've only seen in New Orleans.

    Great food! Came out fast and was excellent. Just a bit overpriced and the friendly staff was spread out too thin

    We had the Christmas special which I would describe as just “ok,” nothing unique or special about the food. Our server was new so had some typical newbie struggles, but was attentive. The restaurant was surprisingly loud given the size of the restaurant. The prices seemed a bit high for what you received compared to other restaurants nearby.

    Came here for breakfast on Christmas Day, the food was beyond amazing! Our waitress was amazing as well. The atmosphere was quiet and laid back. Over all a great experience.

    The kitchen seemed to get backed up because of a large party. This should have been accounted for when the large gathering was booked. It was also chilly in the downstairs dining room due to the side windows/doors being open. A diner at the table next to us actually closed the door next to us, which was appreciated by us. The food was very good, even if the timing was too long between courses.

    The food selection appeared to be interesting but unfortunately fell a bit short of expectations. The crawfish étouffée had a rather unpleasant “fishy” taste, the shrimp and grits are a bit stiff, and the shrimp po-boy is basic. Overall an acceptable meal, but nothing jaw dropping.

    My wife and I dined at Curio Restaurant in the French Quarter on Saturday night. The food was average and the service was good, with fair pricing. However, the experience was marred by the cleanliness of the restaurant. We noticed a crushed shrimp on the floor near our table that remained there throughout our meal, despite several servers stepping over it. Overall, the restaurant did not stand out and lacked attention to detail in maintaining a clean environment.
