   I booked a reservation to bring my husband for a surprise anniversary celebration . I called ahead and made sure I could bring a cake, and they said it was fine and they’d put it in a cooler and bring it out cut up for us when we were ready. I bring the cake 2hours early to drop it off, and I speak with the hostess who says the same thing- she will make sure our waiter knows the plan. When we arrive at dinner, the same hostess pulls me aside and confirms the plan one last time. I think it’s all squared away and I’m excited to celebrate my husband. During dinner, I pull our waiter aside to confirm he knows about the cake, and he said he had no idea. I was surprised, but okay, I’m glad I double checked. So after we’re done eating, he brings over a plastic grocery bag and sets in on the table in front of me. This was the cake, in the grocery bag and in its box. He didn’t take it out of the grocery bag or the box. He just plopped it down in front of me and ruined the surprise because I had to sit there and untie the bag and now my husband knew what it was. It was embarrassing. The waiter had to be reminded that we needed plates and silverware, because he was too busy running around doing other things. He made sure to ask us if we wanted more drinks or coffee to go with the cake, considering that would make more money, but didn’t bring us plates or silverware until I asked. When he DID bring the plates, he just put a pile of plates in front of me. He didn’t pass them out. There was only 4 of us at the table, so it shouldn’t have been a big deal to pass them out. Instead, I had to pass them out, while I’m still trying to get the cake out of all these boxes and bags and cut it up! My husband decided to pay for the whole table, and his parents tried say they wanted to pay, but then they went along with it. Then after it was settled, waiter comes back and asks the parents if they want to switch the cards and let them pay instead, which embarrassed my husband. DISAPPOINTED.

   Server Andre was excellent. We had tortilla soup, ensalada fajita, enchilada suiza. All excellent.

   Our server victor was amazing. He gave great recommendations and was very kind. The drinks were great and the Brussel sprouts were a 10/10

   The food was good and the service was great. The waiters were very attentive and check back often. The value was fair.

   I attended Cyclone with a group of friends to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. Our server, Alexa was wonderful by being attentive and ensuring our experience was top-notch. Additionally, for the surprise birthday sing-along, the staff was enthusiastic and a joy to witness. Thank you Cyclone Anaya River Oaks, we will be back!!

   I love Cyclone Anaya’s and when I found out about the River Oaks location, I was ecstatic! My work team of five celebrated with a holiday lunch today. The food was excellent, service superb, and ambience perfect. We enjoyed the holiday tunes mixed with trending music. We will definitely be back as a group!

   Cyclone Anaya’s has the best Mexican food in the River Oaks area and great staff. We love going there. They face stiff competition in the neighborhood from Escalante’s, Mi Cocina and others. I think the drinks could be improved. My husband has tried several margaritas from the specialty and has not found one he likes. They are either too sweet or have too much lime juice. I like the skinny but I think it is generally short on tequila. I do not like how they serve the ranch water to be drunk from the Topo Chico bottle. I ordered a Topo Chico and a shot of tequila the other night (to mix acc to my preference). I paid $23 for that privilege : ( $5.50 for the TC and $17 for a shot of Hornitos reposado. I had blackened shrimp tacos for dinner - delicious and <$20, but my meal still came out expensive. Maybe we will just get take-out next time, but then we would miss the lovely staff ….
