Dear Friend is Downtown Dartmouth's cocktail & wine bar. Join us in our cozy, European style cocktail bar or on our vibrant patio for great food, amazing cocktails, attentive service and awesome music. Located in the heart of Downtown Dartmouth on Portland Street, we are steps away from the Dartmouth Waterfront and Alderney Ferry Terminal. Our small plate food menu showcases Chef Bradley George's take on fresh Nova Scotian seafood and cured meats, as well as small plates with Asian and Spanish influences. Our bar team features some of the best the country has to offer; always creating new flavours and perfecting classics. Join us for our Oyster Happy Hour, everyday from 4pm-5pm, or book a table with friends to imbibe. We have lots of space for walk-ins as well!

    We enjoy our evening at Dear Friend. Staff are friendly and provide excellent service . Food is delicious. Cocktails are award winning. We had the pleasure to chat briefly with Patrick who is competing in the World Class Canada finals, with his world class cocktails. Dartmouth has a great culinary scene and I encourage people to give Great Friend visit. Thank you to all at Dear Friend.

    Went for dine around to try a few new dishes. First up was a cocktail from the extensive cocktail list. First course was beef tartare, which isn't on many restaurant menus. It was excellent and the topping of potato sticks added to the flavour. Main course was duck. The quality of a restaurant can be measured by how well they cook duck. While I was expecting a duck leg, it was actually sliced duck breast cooked to perfection. While the sides weren't plentiful, the duck was a good portion. Finally, dessert. Expresso martini tarmisu and an almond cookie. Both were excellent. Service was attentive but not overbearing and the chef appeared to explain the main dish. Overall, an excellent experience in a rather small venue, but quiet enough that you can have a conversation.

    Dear Friend may have a well deserved reputation for the best place to go for an amazing cocktail but more people should be talking about how phenomenal the food is! We loved every thoughtfully assembled bite of the 5 course tasting menu - can’t wait to dine here again!

    Just discovered this place about a month ago. Sat at the bar the first time there because we didn’t have a reservation. This time we had a reservation and were enjoying drinks when we were told we had to move from our table with 20 mins notice due to another reservation. It’s not a big deal but a heads up when booking a reservation that there is a time limit would be helpful. Great place, will be back but it would be helpful to know there is a time limit.

    Fantastic drinks and great happy hour oysters. We had a great time in a very chill environment. Great staff and we will gladly come back next time we are in the area!
