Built in the 1800 as a very modest Bajan home, Dis Ole House is now living its best life hosting people to take part in our wonderful island’s culinary flavors. We offer a very stark contrast to the much grander Sam Lord's Castle at whose gates we are neatly nestled. We provoke curiosity and experiences where little touches like our enamel tableware will make any Bajan smile with yesteryear nostalgia. The area itself is nostalgic; Sam Lord himself must have roamed here, right? We’re proud promoters of all “tings” Bajan, celebrating our ancestors, history, and culture. Come drink a rum punch (or two--who are we to judge?) and try our very traditional dishes: cutters, fish cakes, roast breadfruit, or our national dish, Cou Cou & Flying Fish. We boast as a seafood lover's paradise, Lobster, Conch, Sea Cat (octopus), and Sea Egg (seasonal) are all among our fresh local offerings, grilled, pickled, and blacken the Bajan way.

This was a tricky one to rate because the things that were great were really great, but our experience was hampered by a ridiculously long wait time. We were seated in the very beautifully decorated outdoor seating area right away and our orders were taken promptly. We didn't have to wait long for our appetizers to arrive. The BBQ pigtail bites (super tender!) and the conch salad were delicious, and got us excited for our main meals. We listened to the live entertainment, a talented singer, while we waited. After a while, the singer took a short break, and we continued to wait. At one point, the restaurant had a power outage. Everyone took it in stride and just turned on their table lamps. We continued to wait. The power came back on. We continued to wait. Two tables near us, a couple and a family of four, finished their entrees and their desserts while we waited for our meal. Both tables were sat after us. OVER TWO HOURS LATER, we finally got our entrees. By that time, my partner was starving and angry. No one had checked in on us during the wait, nor did anyone tell us what took so long. My partner had to hail a waiter to check in on our meal, and all they could say was that "It was coming." The food was really, really good--she got the ribs, and I got the Gran Gran Buck Pot--but we couldn't fully enjoy our meals because we were hungry and upset. When we finally got the bill, she had to display our order on the screen instead of a printed out check; I suspect the power outage interrupted our order and they didn't put it back in until we asked about our meal. That's my guess, I can't be sure, because--again--no one checked in on us or let us know what was going on. And no, there was no apology, not verbally nor in the form of comped items. We paid in full and left the restaurant 3+ hours after we had arrived.

We loved the is restaurant. The outdoor ambience was lovely. Very attentive service with a smile . Terrific food. We highly recommend and will be back next time we are in Barbedos.

Best food in Barbados!!! If you don't eat here you are not experiencing great food in Barbados! We have been here a week and only wish we found this hidden gem sooner. We loved it so much we made a reservation for tomorrow night. This place is AMAZING!

Food was excellent. Ambience was a fun island experience. The outdoor patio is the place to be. Live music was excellent.

We had a delicious meal at Dis Ole House. The catch of the day was Marlin and it was perfectly grilled and seasoned. The service was professional and friendly. The restaurant is charmingly decorated too. Most importantly, their Bread Pudding is the best I’ve ever had in Barbados!
