As a bar-focused restaurant, we craft garden-to-glass cocktails served alongside Chef Joe Zobel's modern American cuisine inspired by West Sonoma County's abundance of biodiversity. Along with our menu of innovative and delicious dishes, the bar features house-made beer and spirit-free elixirs, as well as locally-sourced and small-production wines by the glass. Fern Bar's airy, plant-filled space can be found within The Barlow, Sebastopol's popular shopping and dining destination. Our outdoor dining room is covered with a heater next to every table, it still gets cold so bring a layer.

I had enjoyed the falafel before and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately it was extremely dry (it crumbled when I tried to cut it). Our order arrived within about 3 minutes of placing it and made us wonder if it had been sitting out for hours. Kale salad was good. Our server was great.

I recommend going during happy hour when the food and drink prices are much more reasonable than during regular menu hours. We had the smashed burger -just so so, and kale/green salad which was nicely balanced with fresh ingredients and light vinaigrette. Our friends both had the fried chicken and gave it a thumbs up and one of them had the pigs in blankets - “ pretty good”. The ambiance is lovely and the vibe is fun and upbeat.

What a lovely eclectic place! The vibe of the restaurant is so cool and funky! It's a really awesome environment. We LOVED the food. Everything we had was so flavorful and unique . So many beautiful flavors. They have a huge cocktail menu but also offer a TON of non alcoholic drinks that taste so good! Our service was perfect as well. Attentive without being overwhelming.This place is a must try in sonoma county . And try the numb nums! The flavor is addictive!

Great spot for a cocktail, but not ideal for a dinner date. The restaurant felt uncomfortably warm and stuffy, as if everyone was sharing the same air.

Great vibe of a restaurant. Food was mediocre, though. The shared plates were good sizes, however were not as delicious as we had anticipated. The salad dressing was tasteless, thought the greens were spectacular. The fried chicken was white meat, a bit dry, and served with a sauce that was supposed to be a chipotle sauce of sorts, however it seemed to have a gelatinous texture to it that was odd. The mushrooms with potatoes was bland. The Umami bomb was also lacking something to give it some interest and umami. The service was outstanding from the front desk to the server. And, the vibe fit perfectly with the service and Sebastopol. Three of us were in agreement over the food, service, and vibe.

My buddy and I just wanted to have a quiet place where we could talk at a bar. I asked Matt if the Corpse Reviver cocktail worked, cause I needed it. He said it would and it did. My friend had the Smash Burger and I did another appetizer. I highly recommend this great spot with a good atmosphere.

A rat ran across the floor while we were there, clearly noticed by staff who then asked a server “did a customer see?” Who then looked me straight in the face and said yes. They proceeded to discuss the rat within ear shot and other animals “that scare them” but no one came to talk to us about it or offer apologies. We finished our drinks and left. Cocktails were delicious and hand crafted. The burger we ate pre rat sighting was good but no smash burger is worth $30. Won’t be returning.
