A charming village pub nestled in the heart of Spaldwick village on the unspoiled greenbelt of Cambridgeshire. This traditional, local pub offers a fresh, seasonal menu coupled with local craft beverages, all of which can be enjoyed in our rustic, country setting. Our alfresco courtyard is the perfect oasis for any passing visitor or returning local. We had a table booked for 1.30pm on Christmas Day. We arrived on time, and a very nice, young lady gave us a glass of champagne. We were shown to our table, and the waiter came to see if we would like wine, or anything else to drink. Then shortly after we had a chefs taster followed by perfectly served starters, mains, and desserts. The time between each course, was just right. We had a lovely small gift on the table, a very nice thoughtful touch.! We thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed our time at the George, the staff were lovely, and the meal and service, first class. We would most definitely recommend the George for an outstanding meal , and a great time.

The food from the georges christmas menu was delicious and the restaurant is a lovely place in which to enjoy an evening. The service was very good and the waiting staff nice and polite

A little disappointed with the pies and vegetables. The broccoli had gone yellow in parts and the meat was not brilliant in the pies. Just a few tweaks to bring the food up to scratch, we had Sunday lunch here before and had to send back parsnips as not cooked. The venue and staff are brilliant, please bring the food up to top notch.

Food was very good, staff were friendly but forgot our coffees at the end hence not quite five stars. Too expensive would be my biggest criticism and car park is a bit tight for bigger cars.

I was not impressed on arrival, to be asked to eat in the bar. I explained that booking weeks in advance should guarantee a table in the restaurant. A girl reluctantly went to check if there was a spare & not surprisingly, there was! The food was good, along with the service. However, each time my friend and I visit the staff have changed. It is definitely not the place it once was.

We visited to try out some of the recently changed dishes on the menu. Seating in the bar area is flexible and less formal than the dining area. Service is prompt but not over-bearing and all very efficient. Time for the food to arrive is good and portions adequate.

This venue is excellent, there were 3 of us. We had the lamb, trout and shepherds pie all cooked to perfection. The only downfall was the wait which was nearly an hour. Which was the reason for losing one star. We didn’t have starters but did order coffees and because we were chatting it was a while before we realised how long we had waited. However it was worth the wait.

My girlfriend and I are repeat visitors to The George. The welcome, the food and the ambience all combine to make this one of our regular meeting places. We like the variety of dishes on their menu which cover all bases. The landlord and his staff always go the extra step which so many other local competing venues won't do.
