Amazing food! Best sushi we’ve had around Pittsburgh. Also, it was so cool to sit at the high top and watch the food being prepared. The cleanliness of the kitchen and effort that the staff went through to keep the area tidy was impressive.

We really enjoyed our first experience here. Food was great! Highlights for me were the ginger salad, toro nigiri, spicy tuna rice cake, and soy brownie.

Small restaurant with only 2 tables and the rest of the seating at the sushi bar. Went with a group of 4 so it’s a bit difficult to talk to the 4th person. I didn’t realize that when booking but it was fine. Can’t really go with more than 4 people b/c you can only talk with those next to you. Anyway, delicious cocktails, service and food were amazing! Loved the atmosphere. Sitting at the bar was fun and got to see all the food being prepared. Looking forward to going back.

Our server was welcoming and attentive. We were celebrating a birthday which they helped us celebrate with a glass of champagne. The menu is artfully crafted to match the food. A wonderful spot to celebrate and a great addition to Pittsburgh. I hope to be back soon.

It was one of the best experiences in Pittsburgh. The food and drinks were hands down 10 out of 10.

Good quality food and service. Music was not too loud. You probably might need a flashlight to fully see the menu but this wasn’t an issue for me. Overall, it was a good experience with an intimate laidback atmosphere. I’d recommend for someone that enjoys sushi and other Japanese cuisine!

Great music. Great vibe. Wonderful service. Nice drink list. Good selection. Not enough offerings for vegetarians (but that’s pretty on-brand for a Japanese restaurant.) I also wasn’t a fan of the fried rice. It was salty and had a strange seasoning in it. The shrimp tempura also had some sauce on them which dominated. The tuna tataki was fantastic. Loved it! The tuna toro was very good and the crab jasmine rice was also good. The udon noodles were described by my friend as being “chaos”. Too much going on. We did not have dessert.

From start to finish—wow! We had an amazing dinner at Golden Gai at the counter. Dishes we tried: - spicy cucumber salad - ginger salad - scallop roll - rickrolld roll - salmon nigiri - toro nigiri - fried soba noodles (mushrooms were insane!) - yuzu tart for dessert Everything was stellar with unexpected flavor twists at every turn. We also loved the unique stoneware and glassware! All staff we interacted with were warm, friendly, and personable. We’ll be back!
